Engine & Internal - 93 octane safe? fuel cleaners? octane boost?

i have a 95 ex with about 165k miles on it and i was wondering if going from the normal 83 unleded octane to running on premium 93 would be ok for the engine? also, would it make a noticable difference in response?
also, i see that there are some fuel cleaners that claim to clean fuel injectors, carburetors, intake valves and ports, combustion chambers, cylinder heads and piston tops. does this really work and does it really restore lost power?
and last question, i've seen these "octane boost" products and i was wondering if they really work. most of them claim to gain up to 1 octane but i dunno.
thanks.
sorry if any of these are a re-post.

most cars these day run on 87 or 89 octane --unless your runnin alot of mods --93 is a waste of money

I wouldn't waste my money on the octane boost either.

go with some fuel system cleaner, but instead of wasting money on boosting octane, get the 87 octane at Shell or Chevron. the extra cleaners they use are less of a waste of money than dumping additives in all the time.

be very careful with them engine cleaners ive herad that they can mess up good engines by messing up geskets with their cleaning agents so be careful and by engine cleaners i mean the Motor flush thype products and do not use slick 50 it will dirty up your engine like if it was a 300,000 mile motor

yeah, i think he meant fuel system cleaners that you pour in the gas tank. and a buddy of mines dad used to drag race old dodges, and he raced the hell out of this one for years with no major problems, then he put Slick50 in at the urging of a friend, then blew the motor at the next trip to the track. coincidence? i dont know, but its enough to make me shy away from it. ill stick to MMO.

SeaFoam is my favorite, but I've been known to use STP on occasion as well.

im not saying i believe this is true or anything..but when i had my old sunbird, i asked if i should use some cleaner ,and they said not to because if you never used it the whole life of the car, there will be so much guck or whatever there, that it will try to clean it and it will get even worse...

that can happen, that it frees up some of the buildup thats in the motor, and it can get stuck in bad places. i say go for it, but drive hard right after to clean it all out.

that is what happened to me and now my engine knocks a little bit after i take off, if you are going to use it make sure you constinly use it dont just put it in once like i did

maybe start out with a 1/4 bottle, then on the next tank use half, then the next tank use 3/4, then finally a full bottle. that way it will only break it up a little at a time.

im in a GM school right now, and they say not to use fuel additives, it eats rubber. and little chunks of crap can clog your injectors. that would be a 300?$ fuel service that you might not have needed, if its cloged, you will have a missfire, fix it if its broken.

hence me using MMO, it refreshs rubber, and very slowly cleans the deposits, as well as coat the entire engine with a very fine coat of oil, so it will help fight rust and buildup.
