ok guys,in the next couple days im going to be doing some brake work so im going to have to bleed the lines..im guessing im only going to need a quart or so, but the question is..shound i buy just regular dot 3 brake fluid or should i go to honda and get some honda brake fluid to top it up??..im not sure what kind is in there now,its probably honda because it was serviced at honda before i bought it..thanks

just get DOT4 from a parts store.

ok sounds good, cuz the honda stuff i bet would be expensive, i just wansent sure if there was better quality and that kind of stuff..but im on my way to buy it now

Get some of that new headlight fluid and top that off while you're at it too.

i looked it up and a 2000 honda , is dot3 or dot4..i just got some ABS dot3 that can be mixed

you dont want to mess with DOT5. it is silicone based, so it wont mix with the old stuff. meaning you have to clean all of the old stuff out first. and it absorbs water from the air REALLY easily. and all the DOT rating is, is the boiling point. if brake fluid absorbs one tenth of one percent of its weight in water, it can lower the boiling point as much as 100 degrees, making that super expensive fluid a big waste of money. and you will probably never boil DOT 3 on the street, and very few of us would ever boil DOT4 even as weekend warriors on the tracks.
