I have a new (to me) 98 LX and it has a separate tape deck. I was thinking of putting an aftermarket HU in and possibly putting an in-dash screen at the bottom where the tape deck is. Is this possible. What will I have to use. There is a JVC deck that I want. It plays everything ( CDs, DVDs, and MP3s).

Id personally go with just a deck, no screen. Its asking ofr a break in. When doing sound syste,s always ask yourself "am I advertising?"

But it would be at the bottom near the floor. I wouldn't put it were the main headunit is for security reasons, but it's way out of the way.

I need to know both things. If I were to take my car to some place and get it installed what would they do with the separate tape deck? Is there some kind of dash kit or something to be able to do this? basically I need to know how I would should do it.

They're both just standard DIN sized slots, you can easily get a deck and screen in there. Why not just get the screen though? They always play everything a deck would anyways.

I just didn't want the tape deck to be at the bottom. So I figured that i would use the space for something, so a screen seemed like a good idea.

Are you talking about the tape deck being in the center console or down by the shifter? If its in the console here is an option (http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2 F&fkr=1&from=R8&satitle=double+din&category0=)

He's talking about the one down by the cup holder, the 96-98 don't have a double din opening on the top.
You can get a storage pocket to go in there for like $8, dude no need for a $1000+ screen to fill it up just cause you don't want the tape deck there anymore.
