well...i didnt know where to post this...so i guess its going here
my friend is in the market for his first car. hes been driving for a long time tho...his dad tought him to drive stick when he was eight years old (lucky asian kids and their no needs for lisences in china). so he knows what hes doing and you shouldnt be decieved when i say its his first car. his parents gave him a budget of 25k (lucky asian bastard) so he wanted to know of a reasonabally priced car that responds well to mods. after reading all the praise from md..the f-body cars were the first that came to mind. i know they respond well to mods...but thats about it. so heres what im asking
are there any years i should be looking for? any specific models? and whats a reasonable asking price for all of this? also...is there a better option for what he needs (wants i guess)? he said hes willing to spend the 25k on the car alone but would rather get a 10k car and put 10k to mods and save the last 5k for gas and/or insurance needs.

2000 to 2002 Camaro SS M6 or a 2000 to 2002 Trans Am WS6
$12,000 to $20,000 range
A car like this with $10k in mods will not be easy to handle on the street

meaning it will be too fast and powerful or just not enough money to evenly disperse?

To fast, I have a buddy that has went 12.8's in the 1/4 with a bone stock 02 SS M6 with just a good set of tires. These cars are no joke.

The formula is faster than the normall firebird.
I think the Z28 is faster than the ss... not sure on that one tho

Formula is the no bs no extra crap ready to hall ass car. No fancy body cladding, no ram air, the lightest they could get away with car
The SS is more so a suspension and gearing package over the Z28 so really it is a Z28 with xxxx, xxxx, and xxxx added to it.

Definatly the 2002 Trans Am WS6. Saw a buddys for the first time(he just has a 99 regular trans am with the ls1) at a sound competition over the summer, my God that car was sexy. he is running 11.97 with cams and basic bolt ons. I have a video around here somewhere of him running a civic with a turboed gsr swap. Fast and look a hell of alot better than alot of cars on the road.

Do you know how many miles are on it?
That seems to be a little high.
There is a 97 here in tn that is super nice with around 60,xxx miles on it for 6,500 but it has a salvage title.
Its his first car anyway he don't need something real nice and have alot of money in it because most people wreck there first cars. I have own 23 cars and I have wrecked 12 of them lol

Looks good, the price of these cars 98% of the time reflect how they have been treated.

hes been driving half his life. literally
You cant get a perment until 16. Even if he has been driving since he was eight it was prob with his parents and on back roads. He cant be that skilled of a driver to be turned loose in this kind of car. Also if I was a good driver and didn't get my first car for 8 years I would be so pissed. So look at like this. He may have been driving for a little while but this is his first car that he is going to be learning alot of stuff in. Mostly stuff you wouldnt want your parents to know like racing burning out and all that stuff you do when you first start driving on your own. I just worry about young drivers. I got a C6 corvette last year and my uncle liked so much he bought one and my 17 year old cousin got out in it with some friends and killed his self and his best friend. That was a 400 hp car. This kid is wanting a 10k trans or camro and want to put 10k in mods. That should put that car well over 400 hp.

im serious about this kids ability. hes 16 years old and has been driving...actually driving...on real streets...since he was eight
china. no lisences or permits or anything there. if you can buy the car, you can drive
he spends his entire summers in china visiting cousins and uncles and relitaves. his dad grew up in china..as did his mom. they moved to nebraska when they got married.
and its 14 years 9 months to get a learners permit here in mich.
Well thats cool then and best of luck to him.
