My dome light only comes on if i manually switch it on. I would come on if the doors were opened or when i disarmed my alarm system. I checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood and they all check out. I know the door switches still work because the alarm works if any door is opened.

Any thoughts?

It wouldn't be the fuses or you wouldn't have the light at ANY time.

Check the contacts on the switch itself,

Also check that the ground is good on the light itself.

I'm not sure if the circuit grounds the light of not to make it light, but I've had bad connections in the dome fixture itself do similar things.

theres 2 green wires one has a black line and the other a red or pinkish color one it should be on the smaller of the 2 remaining plugs. Jump those 2 wires with a wire thats a lil thicker in gauge size and your problem will be resolved. I just installed my system on my 98 and after jumping the 2 wires the dome light worked when I opened the doors. You alarm will also not trigger if ur dome light those not go on when u open the doors so get that working ASAP

Let me know if you have any questions and I will snap some pics of it and post'em.

good luck

Jeezis talk about a thread from the dead. This ones from like a month and a half after the forum was created.

What exactly do you mean by jumping these wires to a large one? Do you mean splicing? And pics would be a huge help

Thanks,

Justin

You actually dont need to make a splice. All that you need to do is get a small piece of wire (2-3 inches) and about 16-18 guage. Find the small green harness that is no longer being used after installing an aftermarket radio. It's probably stuffed into the space behind your new radio. On that harness, find the green wire with a black stripe and the green wire with a red stripe. Take the small piece of wire and stick one end into the pin for the green/red wire and stick the other end into the pin for the green/black wire. Use some electrical tape to secure the "jumper" wire into the harness so that it doesn't fall out. This should fix your problem. As mentioned in an earlier post, the removal of the factory radio may also prevent your keyless entry / alarm from working, but the only way to get around that is to keep the factory radio hooked up.
