ok i have a 97 honda civic hx that has a unquie transmisson ok it is like a one gear ratio right and there is just one gear car. is this true. cause i need to know if it is supposed to shift when you drive cause i dont think that it is supposed to do that..

Are you talking about a CVT? (continuously variable transmission)

oh ****. i hope he doesnt have the transmition that was belt driven. you never feel it shift but it goes to **** faster than prunes through an 85 year old.

it may be driven by belt. when you start the car and start to floor it. it just drives and speeds up you feel no shifting at all. like a one gear car.

I'm pretty sure the HX has the CVT. I don't know much about it though. Are you saying you think there's a problem with it??

I never realized that honda had belt driven trannies, especially on a 97. News to me.

its a stupid design by honda. thats why it didnt last long IMO.

Subaru did it before Honda if I'm not mistaken (ever heard of a Justy?)

its a decent idea, just not good in reality. like the dual stage butterflies on the GSR intake manifold. but yeah, those things are trippy, it just goes up to max power, then holds that RPM and keeps accelerating.
