i just bought 95 civic ex coupe for $800 running. question i have is what is stock motor in car? im looking to do some work but only thing i see on motor says it is a vtech. thanks

 

look to the left of the exhaust manifold about 1/3 way down on the block there will be a 1'x1' square with numbers stamped on it this is the engine code, and engine seriel number, it is probably dirty so spray on some degreaser while your at it.

 

i found label on side now that i cleaned it up some says, d16Z6. thanks for help. im just deciding if i need to rebuild motor if its a good motor to work with or swap it? thanks

 

It's definitely a good motor to work with, it has potential. You could do a b series swap, i've heard a lot of good things about them. But theres a lot of people that say they'd prefer to stick with the 16z. The only problem with that is that you cant build them to quite the extent of a b series.

 

if u wanna be safe about it u could buy mine... its only got 70k on it.. if u need tail lights or anything look my classified up.. ive got all sorts of things cheap u could buy for ur car
