Howdy everyone,
I came to this place because I want a Civic, anywhere around a 92' to a 00'. And I want one because i need a car that can beat my friends cars down the quarter mile, and both of their cars do under 14.00 down the quarter mile.
I have a feeling that the stock engine wont be able to beat thiercars so i was thinking of an engine swap. If anybody out there has an idea for an engine that could do under 14.00 in the quarter mile with a couple of mods, please tell what engines and mods!

I think I can Help you get your start on getting your car to be a bit faster instead of cutting you Down like someone else is trying to do.

FORUMS are for people to HELP other People get information, not for People to cut up other Peoples questions. Cutting up and acting a fool to people is what kills Forums everyday.

Here are a couple of suggestions for you that wont cost you an arm and a leg.

Get a Quality set of spark plugs, say like Nippon Iridium Platniums, Hope Im spelling these right cause I just know that "THE SPELLING GODS" will cut that up...they always cut up mispelled words. Next go for a set of good Quality Wires, say like Vitec (I have these on my Honda) they are 9mm and cost me about $110.00 there are others but that is just a suggestion. Then get yourself a good Cold Air Intake and it doesnt have to be AEM, Injun, Greedy, it can be an offbrand but make sure it's a longer one that goes away from the motor so that it dont suck up hot air - after you get those things look me up and we will get you into stage 2..

Hope this Helps you a little in getting started on your Car project, dont worry about beating somebody's car, get it to run correctly and it will go faster.

I really think that most times every one is a great person, but every so often they start off to say something and ..maybe it kinda comes off the wrong way. Welcome to the forums from me-another newbie-rrrr than most other members.

i guess it might be an easy question to a professional mechanic (such as your self or at least claims to be) who is knowledgeable about imports. but to some of the import newbies who dont knowand are in the quest to learn rely on someone being able to help them out. im sure u were not born with the all knowin import knowledge. u learned from some one at some point. so dont forget you were a newbie too and i doubt people gave u sh*t for askin questions in the quest for knowledge.

//--></>hey importkid, some of us accually have to work...to get what we want, not like you whos gettin a mirage when their 16. so back off. i only get $1000 from my parents to buy a car. and my car has to take me to school everyday till im a senior, and im only if 8th grade. I live about 15 mi. out of town, so thats about 30 mi. a day right? that would be 210mi. a week and we have 36 weeks in a school year so that would be 7560mi. a year just driving to school.so if i want a car thatwill do that i think ill need money on top of that or a new engine in it cuz a car that is selling for $1000 isnt going to last for another 100,000mi. I just want a civic and i want to do some weekend dragracing at my home track. thats why i thought a b18c5 would be a good engine to do some racing at a track. and i have a job to get and engine like that so dont worry about the money. And no one is telling you you have to reply to this!

hey, i did my reshearch like ya told me and your right. $1,300 for 158HP is alot better than $5,000 for 210HP. lol you get more bang for your buck with the b16a1
ImportKid
04-25-2004, 05:56 PM
yea there u go and the aftermarket support is bigger for the b16 then the b18 cause there are barely no type r's in america

Get that h22a it a lil bit ahrder swap but well worth it. i might do a h22 swap sometime down the road.
slim11420
04-29-2004, 07:00 PM
the h22 swap is not that bad. i would be careful though if the roads suck where you live. the clearance for the oil pan is kinda low. dont want to rip that off.

ImportKid
04-29-2004, 10:30 PM
h22a is not a good has platform as the b16a because first the b has better aftermarket resources and it just takes better to forced induction
slim11420
04-29-2004, 11:09 PM
the b is also a hell of alot lighter

lilol89crx
04-30-2004, 01:46 AM
but the h22 has more tq most stock h22 swaped crx's run mid to low 13's. mid to low 13's would cost more than the h22 swap, saying you do the work yourself. also the h22 in stock form would be more reliable than the modified b16. but either way i say both motors are great. i personally would rather go the b16 route due to it taking less space than the h22 under my hood.

thanks guys, ive thought about it and im thinkin im goin the b16 route cuz its a nice swap, but it also fits under my budget well, thats the biggest reason. If the h22 fit under my budget i might be goin that route! so thanks again!

So............... you wanna make them car go fast eh. Well, instead of spending thousands why don't i just shove you & your civic into my yukon for free and i'll do the 0 to 60, and for sure you'll feel exactly how it's like to ride in a fast mobile. There's plenty of road here in the big city of southern Alberta, Canada to do just that.

I would say the B18C1 is a great swap but depending on where you get the motor it can be kinda pricey. The H22 will run even higher because of all the mounts and sh*t that needs to be swapped as well, for the small Hp increase the cost and trouble is just not worth it, I would go with a B series motor and use the money you save to mod that engine.

07-05-2004, 06:29 PM
a K20 swap cost a LOT of money but if u get a H22 swap and a turbo im sure u should have ur friends ass in ur hands

07-06-2004, 03:36 PM
go with a b16 or b18c1 they're great engines, reliable, and theres a lot u can do with em. ull be able to run 14's with slight mods...or u can just shove a **** load of nitrous into ur engine:D

the h22 is a tight fit and dont even think about squeezing a turbo with it. go with the b16. its cheap and way easier.

not doggin on the h22, but the b-series swap is too damn easy to even mess with the H swap. the biggest thing i can tell you is do all the little maintenance crap w/ the engine out of the car, replace the timing belt and water pump, the thermostat, the clutch. trust me.and check to make sure there is oil in the trans. oh and by the way, the b with a turbo weighs as much as an h

Perhaps there's a hole in the block because you think Redline is 9500 rpm?
Last I checked even the JDM B16s redlined between 8000-8500 rpm.
I see no hondata/uberdata with programmed chip and higher lift vtec cams...sooo... theres no way the motor is supposed to be spinning out to 9500 rpm.
