Default lowering...best way to do it??

i want to lower my stock 98 civic ex auto 4d as a first upgrade but have no idea how to go about it. is it alright to get just the springs or do i need to get shocks too? if you could, point me in the direction of good brands. also, i want to make sure everything looks proportional still: ie: i don't want the front looking lower than the back. thanks a lot guys!

searchhhhhhh. below this thread theres a ton of spring/shock threads, should keep you busy for a while but 200 isnt very much to be spending on suspension, and thats a part that you shouldnt cheap out on imo. but heres a link with more links inside..

if you wnat to spend 200 or less, u could go with tein s-techs. that'd run you about 150 for springs, and those springs have a softer spring rate, so you can use them with your stock shocks.

dont forget to add in your alignment costs, however. anytime u play with the shocks or springs, you will need to get alignment done. So if you are planning on doing your shocks later, you will need to align your car a second time.

As 97 said earlier, try not to skimp too much on suspension. IMO, it's the best performance you can get for your money...you wont regret spending money on it. =)

one other detail that almost everyone seems to forget. you must get your camber corrected, especialy if your on a budget, it will save you alot of money in the long run and it cost less to do than 1 good set of tires, which you will be buying alot of if you dont correct your camber. camber on civ's is non-adjustable, but you can buy kits, or if you find the right shop, they can bend the knuckle and do an alignment for less than some kits.
