that's interesting but definately not worth the money to do. You can get much more power out of a b18c with turbo and would probably cost less... I wonder if mounting the engine sideways gives the car balance and vibration issues...

I've actually done an F20C into Civic swap before, and it is DEFINITELY not worth the money if you just want straight performance. The worst part is swapping in the S2k drivetrain (lots of cutting and welding, custom fabbed parts). The thing is, it's so unique and original, it's worth the money if you have it (about the best drifter I've seen short of a 4dr Skyline). Plus, it hauls ass!! Bottom line: if you've got the bank, and you really want to do it, DO IT. You'll be happy.

Good question. It gives it rear wheel drive though.

theyre all bitter because they all have S2s. they dont want to see lighter cars with that motor. i think id still rather have the S2 though. prolly cheaper too.

but civics are FWD. how are civics suppose to drift? Saccion, i'm assuming u've watched initial D b/c of ur avatar but u remember how that one dude drove his civic like madness b/c he was using the hand brake? other than that can civics really drift?

no no no, im saying use the side mounted C-series v-6 and put it in the back( A LA NSX) and use the front suspension hardware to rig up in the rear to drive the rear wheels from the mid-mounted engine. good weight distribution, and mad torque in a still reletively light shell.

By definition, drifting is RWD-specific (or AWD if you know how to tune it). In a FWD car, all you can really do is powerslide. Anyone else ever seen a 4-door Skyline drifter? Holy crap...

technically you cant even powerslide, thats what the v8 A-holes do in parking lots to show off. like a burnout, but going in a circle. kind of a drift, but a good drift has all four wheels moving sideways. in a FF, the best thing i could think to call it is probably oversteering;)

not just a straight conversion. it'd be ALOT of custom work, but its been done a few times. hey Kappa, didnt you do a F20 in a civ?

I did indeed. My dad and I did all the engine/tranny/driveline installation, but the guy had to go somewhere else to get the underbody/frame/firewall modified (to fit the DS/Diff./tranny). He also got the rear suspension custom built and installed somewhere else (so the car showed up on blocks strapped to a flatbed). Then after that was all in, we had to re-fit completely custom exhaust pieces and weld out a system ourselves from other manufacturers' exhaust parts. We also got a gas tank off an S2k and had a machinist reform it to fit in under the car... It worked out nicely though. Overall, it's way too much work and money to put into a Civic... just go buy an S2k.

its a 240sx here. but it is possible to do most of the conversions to make it close to a Silvia. and actually, i think the S14 designates the generation, right?

Oddly enough, the Silvia is only comparable to a 240SX in Japan. The EDM Silvias are actually coded as 200SX's here.

No, I mean I could have sold the SR20 for about $2500. I got the GTR swap for $2800 (engine only). Then I adapted an R33 GTS-T tranny to it since the S14 is RWD.

OIC. well, that'd still be a fun swap in a civic. though i want to do a v-6 with a SC and N2O. not for any special love of a v-6, actually, i think v-6s are dumb, but to go to the races and talk like im stupid and when people ask what ive got done, be all like "its a v-6 supercharged with NAAAWWWS!" then they will totally discredit me and ill drop like a grand on a race and toast em. not like it will ever happen, but it'd be funny.

i dont really understand why, it just seems like the best motors are never Vs. yeah, the VG30 is a decent motor, but show me one that can put out 1000 hp like its closest rival the 2JZ has done numerous times. not gonna happen. and yeah, there are some sweet ass v-8s in Ferraris, but come on, thats not even fair to think about.

Well, Ferrari engines are relatively low displacement (which makes it much easier to crank out higher numbers). Generally though, inline has always had more strengths than V. Now, if you look at Porsche, they have done some unbelieveable things with H-O engines, but I guess that's what you get for spending 70+ years building 'em. And while we're on the topic of unprecedented engines, how about a Carrera GT motor?? Have you ever heard a street V10 hitting 9,500 rpm?

rumor has it that the '07 supra will have an NA V10 (i think 5.5 liters) with 50 valves, quad cams, and a 9000 rpm redline. over 450 hp.

Yeah, it does look a little funky. Sweet engine though. But on a side note, Porsche has an audio clip of a Carerra GT doing a standing launch... needless to say, you should go listen to it.

BTW, on a complete tangent, my uncle is driving up from San Diego this weekend in his TVR Tuscan Speed 6. Good god, that is one of the most beautiful cars I have ever seen. This is the first time he's been up when I've had my driver's license, so you know there's gonna' be a test drive...
