EK Swaps - Engine swap

I am thinking about swapping my d16 with a b- series or maybe a k20. I am not good with cars, so i was wondering how hard it is to do it. Also would i be better off having a shop do it, but i dont know what it will cost? anyone know what it will cost?

the k20 is very difficult, thats why shops charge so much for the swap, let alone the value of the engine. i didnt do my swap but peopel on here say its not too hard. but if you dont know that much about cars, u shouldnt do it yourself.

if you want a k20, be ready to pay for it. its not based on the same chassis design like the b-series swaps. the motors are really expensive, i think around 5-7 grand. then you have to buy mounts that run around 700 bucks. let alone all the wiring and fitment issues. just go with a b-series. yeah the k series is better, but its just not worth the hassle unless you have the money to drop it off at one of the very few shops that are familiar with that swap and pay to have it done. i'd expect to pay about 8-10 thousand.

I met a guy at a car show in Missouri who did his own K20 swap in his 98 civic hatch, he said with the Hasport mounts it was fairly easy, but the wiring took him and 2 other people 20 hours to do! From what i hear getting it in is somewhat easy, but the wiring is a biyatch. As far as prices you can buy 2 JDM GSR's for the price of a K20, then however much its going to cost for install.

I dont have that much money so i might go with the b-series. What is a good b-series engine that will fit good in my 97 ex?

Hey i would stil to the B-series there a lot easier to work with and a lot cheaper so you have more money for other parts
