Nitrous, Super Chargers, & Turbos - 100 NOS wet shot on d15z7

Hey everyone, I'm wanting to put a wet 100 shot on my 94 hatch but I'm wanting some advice from anyone that maybe more experienced with nitrous. I threw a 100 dry shot on my motor 2 weeks ago on a dyno and it did 197 h.p. and 234 lb. torque at the wheels. I was wondering if you all think it would be a good investment and if i'd be able to have fun with it or just worry about leaning out all the time. thanks for all replies.

that wont last long. as long as its wet, a 75 shot "should" be ok. but just save up and get a turbo or SC. the cost of filling nitrous bottles will kill you in the long run. and when you wanna go really fast, really bad, the bottle always seems to be empty.

somehow i get the feeling its not, but i know a 50 shot is fine dry on that motor, with pretty frequent use;), so a 75 should be ok for occasional use as long as its wet, and BTW, get some spark plugs one heat range cooler than stock. and dont get the iridium ones or the platinum ones with the little tiny tip (about the same size as the iridium ones) as the small tip melts in the insane temperature it is subjected to in an N2O motor. and set the ignition timing just barely retarded, like 14-15* BTDC.

yeah, 100 shot is a bit much on a stock motor, and check into zex spark plugs.

yes, the motor is all stock and has not been built. I can try to load the dyno sheet if u all want to see it. we were going to make 2 passes but the bottle only had 2 pounds of nitrous in it and we used a pound and a half on the first run and the bottle ran out during the second run right after i punched it so i only got to make one pass but my 1.5 took it well and it liked it alot so i've already ordered a wet shot but i was just wanting some other peoples opinions.
there's no way your stock motor will last with a 100 shot.

wow, thats why it worked though. if it only had 2 pounds in it, then the pressure had to be pretty low. dont stick with the 100 shot. thats pretty unanimous.

Well actually we heated up the bottle to 925 psi so it was at full pressure. i was under the impression that if u have GOOD fuel management and everything is tuned my engine will handle a 100 shot fine if i only spray it at the track on the weekends. i've talked to a couple local nitrous experts and they both told me that my engine is unlike any other d series honda makes and it loves nitrous very much because of the shorter stroke then a d16 and yet it still has higher compression.

I also plan on getting a MSD ignition box and window box so i wont have to worry about hitting my rev limiter while i'm spraying. i plan on cutting it off at 6500. ive already ordered nology wires and brisk spark plugs that are about 4 levels colder then stock plugs.

it wont be fine for long. the cylinder pressures are outrageous, and i dont know if youve ever seen one of the connecting rods out of that motor, but they are laughable. 100 shot will lead to bad things, even without detonation. Maybe, just maybe, in a DOHC, like ls or b20b, with the right fuel setup, it could be done. but not on those pencil rods.

yes i understand the cylinder pressures are extremely high but thats where the shorter stroke comes into play as opposed to a vTEC 1.6 and U also have to remember that d15s redline alot sooner then most other honda motors so there is less chance of keeping the stress on the crank and rods for a prolonged period of time. i've talked to alot of experts(not to undermind your knowledge)and they've assured me that d15's take nitrous alot better then any other honda motor. even if they have pencil rods.

you think that might be because they want you to buy thier stuff?
most people know engines aren't tuned for max performance from the factory but throwing 100hp at an engine that doesnt even make a 100 on it's own is not a good idea.

While it is true that D series engines can handle more nitrous than most, a 100 shot is still too much. The rule of thumb with nitrous on stock internals is no more than 65% of your stock hp for a daily driver. Have fun rebuilding your engine 3 times a year.

maybe he's into that kinda thing, you know... practicing and all:D.
I have nos so i'm not against it by any means, but for an "expert" to say a 100 shot is okay (on a stock 100hp d15) leads me to believe they don't know as much as they think.

yeah, i am a little nervous about people like that selling nitrous accessories.

I don't see any problem here. I ran a 100 shot of nitrous before going turbo. I took it just fine. For about 6 months. Cylinder #1-150psi, #2-30psi, #3-145psi, #4-80psi. Rods were fine, it's the rings that went on my engine (75K miles , oil changed every 3K).
But hey I only ran it once or twice a week and once at the track.
Yes I am vtec, but trust me I am an expert on the fact that it CAN'T take it.

the expert that I spoke with is a Honda genius and one of the few people in Houston, TX to be certified to work on Vipers. Hes also has his degree in engineering. Hes only 27 and he has a 307 WHP N/A B16 civic so I think he knows what hes talking about. And for the last time neither of these people were trying to sell me anything.

Hey a 100 shot of wet nitrous on a D15 is goin to KILL your engine and completely ruin it its not worth it you hate doin it in the long run
