Transmission & Differential - auto gearbox problems???

hey i got a 96 civic hatchback its a 1.6 sohc vtec automatic but it seems to be slipping or something as i acceleerate hard in s it seems that the revs are rising and then i suddenly get a burst of power then it wil go?? its a pulse on off of power lasting for maybe 2seconds a time but i dont get this power when cornering or on bumpy roads? i am really confused i think the transmission is gone but i'd like some advice? thanks

about the only thing you can do short of an overhaul is change the fluid & keep your fingers crossed--make sure you use the correct honda fluid
