ECU Tuning & Fuel Management - tach impulse pickup location

I have a 2004 civic dx with the distributorless ignition system. Talking to the local dealer service manager, he recommended coming to this sight to ask if any of you have installed an aftermarket tach. he said maybe the cam position sensor or the crank sensor. anybody out there have some advice?
