General Tech Help - Air conditioning problem!!

Got a problem folks, looking for some confirmation before i dive into fixing it. I have a 1998 Honda Civic LX, runs great and looks good for the miles. The problem is the air conditioning cycles on and off frequently. The problem has been occurring for about 1 1/2 years and the summer is heating up again this year so time to fix it. It runs super cold when it runs and I figured if it was leaking freon it would have leaked it all out by now. It runs for about 3 to 5 minutes and then the cold shuts off and then anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes it kicks the cold back on again. This cycle goes on and on and of course you only noti9ce it when it is hot.......I am sure it does it in the mornings when it is cooler but you just don't notice it. I was figuring some thermostat on the AC or some sensor or realy etc......if someone can help it sure would be greatly appreciated!!

I would still check to be sure the system is fully charged before doing anything else...
