Hi,ive just brought a civic 1.4i 1997,im trying to put an air filter in but i cant see no space where i thought they usally go,so is there any extension pipes/tubes i can use to fit it in to the front of the engine bay?also could anyone tell me if 17" alloys could go straight on?cheers.

17's will fit, provided the bolt pattern is right. I'm not familiar with the 1.4i but if the setup is like the 1.6, the filter would go into a square box (with clips on it) near the throttle body...under the bonnet ;)

What you are referring to might be an anftermarket intake (i.e. short ram or cold air) and it will reposition your filter, but not exactly sure where in your engine bay.
