Default Black OEM grill has turned gray from years of use. What do I do.

So the front grill with the honda emblem in the front has turned gray w/ years of use. (7 to be exact) I was wondering if there was a black plastic paint spray that I can purchase at a car parts store to restore the black that has faded

i've got the same problem...

back to black keeps it looking ok for a week or so, but its a pain in the butt to apply it constantly (especially since I don't get time to detail my car every week)

there's a product called vinyl dye which would probably fix it and maintain the matte finish...

i've yet to take my front end apart to do it on my car

i use "black bumper paint "on all my black trim - you can pick up a can at just about any parts store
its a black spray paint that works well on plastic parts -& its not a glossy finish either

^^+1 for mothers back to black, just scrubb it fairly hard with a rough towel and it will last a really long time. I have a 97 and had the same problem that stuff is magic....lol

I just did this for one of my cars last night.

Remove the grill and clean it with alchohol or paint thinner.
Sand it with 300-400 grit sandpaper.
Clean it off again with paint thinner.
Spray sandable primer on it. Let it dry, apply another coat.
Wet sand the primer with 600-1000 grit sandpaper until you achieve the smoothness you desire.
Clean it off with paint thinner, let dry.
Spray with flat black paint, letting it dry in between coats.

The grill will look better than new!
