Hey i got a 1995 honda civic ex coupe with a 5 speed tranny in it, just finshed an engine swap from a d16z6 to a jdm d15b, finally got the motor running and when i push the clutch in i put it in gear and let out the clutch and nothing happens, no moving or anything, i put a new clutch kit in it. any idea as to what the problem could be???

A couple:

1) When you installed the clutch, did you set the control arm for the throwout bearing back in behind the disc? This would be highly unlikely.
2) Did you reconnect the shift linkage? I'm guessing this isn't the problem because you would notice a rather limp shifter. (I hate to play Captain Obvious, but it happens...)
3) Did you do a full clutch kit, or just the disc? If you only did the disc and didn't check the pressure plate or flywheel for wear, it could be worn enough to fail to engage.

I think there's more options that I'm forgetting, so I'll append if I think of any.

Yea linkage is perfect it goes in and out of gear on the tranny side, it was a full clutch kit and i basically did everything the book said im thinkin if i installed my the one plate backwards, but hey i still got the motor running:D

Well, you can't install the pressure plate backwards...

oh, on the shifter? i thought you meant the CLUTCH disc, i was soooo confused. and i dont think you CAN install the clutch backwards in a civic, can you? i didnt think the spring side would fit in the other way.

Yeah, that's what I said. It's impossible to bolt the pressure plate on backwards because the guidepin and bolt holes won't line up.

well what dou think could be the problem then, the tranny goes in gear but there is no moving..

check your axles, you might have not put it into the tranny all the way
