Well make sure the car is in a good condition and that its not making any weird noises, before you buy it.

what would be the best engine to have in a Civic... years 1993-1999?
Im not planning on dragging the car or making it totally modded out with a turbo, but id like it to have some power.

well best engine would either be a k20a or a h22 but those are quite pricy. a b18 in a civic would be pretty powerful. you can get a swap for about eh say $800 or so for everything you need.
94-99 model civics are my favorite, make sure they have a v-tec motor and you'll be satisfied. If you happen to find a 99-2000 si model, they come with a dohc 1.6l motor I think and are pretty zippy. Harder to find though, so more than likely your best bet is the 94-99 with a v-tec and manual tranny.

umm... i think he meant stock motor since hes not "modding it out" but i would go for a hatchback w/ d16y8 and a 5 speed.... dont put a wing on it either....lol

I didnt say i wasnt modding it out, I probly would put a bit into it. But not like turbo and stuff , Just a little quicker than stock.
I'd definatly go for a 5speed tranny and a v-tec

If you find a 93-95 ex they have good motors. They have a d16z6 which is pretty sweet for stock. Its vtec and all that great stuff. About 125 hp stock. Good luck finding your honda!

Well best motor stock would be a 99-00 civic si, they come with the b16 motor with 160 hp.
