Vehicle: 2004 Civic LX
Product: DC Sports Short Throw Adapter
Vendor: Local Shop
Cost: $70 (I got it for free w/$20 to install)
Rating: ********** (9 of 10)
Install Time: About 15 minutes.

It is awesome but there is not much to say about it... I can take a picture of the box it came in but I cant really take a picture of the short shifter because it is in the car now... I totally reccomend this to anyone! The shifting on my civic is now TOTALLY different and whole shift itself went waaay long to maybe a couple inches between... It is hard to explain the difference but there is a HUGE difference... I barely move my hand now. AWESOME!!!

*NOTE* This is only a throw adapter so it does nothing but adjust the travel of the shift and does very little to shorten the height of the OEM stick. That reduces score by one star.

I was hoping someone would do a review on one of these since I'm planing on getting one soon. What knob are you using, a DC sport one or something else?

My shifter is a knock off MOMO raptor... I am eventually going to get a new boot and knob but that is more cosmetic money i dont feel like wasting right now.

Did you get the actual short shift lever or adapter?

Oh...I think that is called a short throw adapter, so you didn't replace your stock lever?

No... everything still looks the same but just feels different and the stick doesnt move very far... do they also sell shorter sticks?

Looks like it is up to 2000... does it matter? I have an 04.

I would suspect that it matters but I don't know, I looked on www.aempower.com also and they don't have one for your year either so I guess they don't have one for your car?

Geez... how bout just cutting a chunk out of the middle and welding it back together?

I'm not sure how the short shift levers make the distance shorter but you could just take the knob off of your lever and cut/grind the shifter down smaller and put the knob back on but that would only work if your knob screwd on like aftermarket ones insted of using the threads on the lever. I think cutting it and welding it back together would make it too weak.

The only actual shorter lever for our year that I know of is the Revo one.

I would think welding it would be just as strong as the original metal wouldnt it? I mean, cars are welded together arent they? And I dont think I could push hard enough on the stick to break a piece of metal... I'll check out that brand you said, Ricki...

^ This is a repeat review. But also Moog, toss that junk DC and go get a Revo Short Shifter, the difference is unbelievalbe. DC reduction maybe 20%, Revo reduction 50% revo only costs 20 bucks more.

I got mine for free so i dont really care! The shop said he'd put it in my car for 20 bucks because they knew they wouldnt sell it.
What is a repeat review? I would think lots of reviews on the same product would be helpful!

I see! I read your review on the DC one like I have... where did you find your REVO?

Rickimaru

I personally do not have a revo, hoping to buy one soon, but I found it while searching around

also we should probably get this thread, or part of it moved to transmission if we can

How was the install on that, Moogly? Does it take some breaking in, or smooth right off the bat? Thanks

Install was only about 15 minutes... takes no breaking in, just getting used to at first because you want your hand to go farther... and then another 15 minutes passes and you're used to it... I actually am swapping out my DC for a revo kit, they are better.
