Yeah! I went to my first autocross event to watch my bud race...end it racing too. I ran 4 times, hit 1 cone @ the first time.
Subaru team record was 54 second. my best shot wt my stock civic is 71 sec clean.
I was in class STX <<<someone xplain to class letter for me plz!
What should I upgrade to get better in autocrossing?

Driver skill. Lots of practice. Help from your instructors. Novice school if they offer it in your region.

STX stands for Street Touring Xtreme which u most def. should not have been in, esp. if ur stock. if u dont have any performance/suspension mods then make sure u register in the right class next time. as far as mods, well it dosnt really matter tooo much. if u want, u could just keep racing in stock class and do well in there. most ppl would go with suspension mods and light performance mods(i/h/e) and that would stick u in STS class. little more competitive than stock...might also want to get smaller wheels and grippier tires. if i were u i'd just get some wheels/tires legal for stock class and stay in there till i got alot better and learned more. then later on once ur better, get a better suspension setup and move to STS. but thats just wut i'd do...

thank you!
Autocross is AWESOME!
I will do some suspension upgrade when spring comes (scholarship and grants from school come in)
I dont want to use he yellow wheels and tires to autocross. Can i use the steelies? with 14inch tires? I have a set of four sitting in my garage!
The registering guys put me in STX. my first time so i did not know what the hell was that. Next time I ll be in STS!!!

I have WS2 exhaust, NGK plantium sparkplugs, 9mm sp wires, cheap ass intake THAT's ALL...I dont know what to do next..
you're in STS. Register for that next time if there's no Novice class.
buy some Falken Azenis for your steelies.

+1 on mxs. the azenis rt-615's are the #1 rated autox tire out there. very very good race tires and for pretty cheap. look at some of the tires at the next event, the majority will prolly be azenis lol. www.vulcantire.com has very good prices, cheapest i've found...if u find any cheaper, leme kno cuz im getting a set for next season.

don't call me "bro", I'm not a guy.
the Azenis RT-215 are actually a slightly better tire but they are discontinued now. Look around and see if you can find a set though. Some sellers still have them on eBay. I got mine slightly used, $100 for 5 tires. I used them for about 16 events this year and they still have tread left. but I ONLY used them at events, I carried them in my trunk and changed tires when I got there

I was building my car for autoX, but now unfortunately my car spools at 5K and completely changes characteristics, I'd have such a hard time not blowing cones lol.

it's not though, probably should have been STS unless you have a high flow cat, new calipers, LSD, or a couple other not-quite-so-basic things. Here's a basic guide to classes, you can download the whole rule book if you're unsure. http://www.moutons.org/sccasolo/

I thought the only difference between STS and STX is engine output?
Anyways, if I was you, ditch the intake and put the stock one on without the lower resinator and run H-Stock.;)
that's the biggest difference, there are a couple other minor things, most of which I listed above.
+1 for H-stock, at least for a little while. and you'll learn more if you're not changing your setup constantly

well if u want to autoX...mxs has one of the best,if not the best, suspension on the froum!....suspesion FTW!!!!!
I forgot to point out before, and I probably should, that figuring out your class is the responsibility of the driver, NOT the registrar. If you're thinking of doing one of these events, determine your class before you get there. See the link I posted above.

that's a lot of reading...

EDIT: Seriously though, that list is pretty vague
