Nitrous, Super Chargers, & Turbos - stock internals with turbo?

I have a 97 ex. It has 87,000 miles and im thinking about getting a turbo. I was wondering how many psi i could run safely on stock internals?

i have a friend with a 97 ex with a greddy kit and he runs 6psi on the street and 8 at the track all stock internals and he has had the kit for a little more than a year now with now problems......its not very quick but its nice to cruise around in

the y8 with 6-8 lbs isnt very quick?..what does he run in the 1/4 mi?

alright thanks. How much horse power can i expect from 8psi? And if i get new internals, do i just need pistons, rods, and a new camshaft?

you'll probably have between 180 and 200 somewhere around there and if you wanted to get all new internals you would need pistons, rods, valves and valve springs, retainers, etc.... you get the idea

my friend with the y8 turboed? he runs about 14.5- 14.7 i hung with him in my 96hatch with a b16 swap, cams, and cam gears....we were dead even but hes only been to the track once and he ran three times and he went 14.7 twice and 14.5 once its quick but not for the money he paid for it he bought that greddy kit for 4500 then paid to get it installed i bought my motor for 2500 and put it in myself i think he wasted his money but that motor still has lots of potential so you never know...

he could have gotten a b16 AND a greddy turbo for that much.

Go check out turbod16.com They have a video of a stock d16 with a turbo running 9 psi, racing and flying threw the streets doing continues donuts and what not i dont have the link here at work i will post later.

yeah he definatly got ripped he bought it from our local performance place(i dont want to say any names) and this guy always charges to much for everything but hes the only one around here so you dont have much of a coice, its either him or the internet.

That's the problem with a lot of mechanics; they think it's OK to ream people just because there's no one else around (or the customers won't go anywhere else) and they can get away with it... pisses me off [:@]

yeah, id go to the 'Bay, just to avoid going to that guy.

To be safe i would run about 7 PSI
