i had the same sort of problem with my stock tranny. what happened was the bearings had worn to the point that when i would shift, it would move all the gears inside enough so that the actual shift mechanism couldnt quite lock into gear. so the bad news is, youll probably need a new tranny. the good news is, thats not nearly as bad as it sounds. you can find a used ex tranny for under 100 bucks. just start looking around. oh, and you might want to consider a new clutch while youre in there.

Thats what every one tells me, that im going to need a new tranny and its going to cost me at least 600+ for everything including labor. Where would i start looking for a used ex tranny? do tell. and i was planning to change the clutch as well

find a buddy that is good with tools and do it yourself. you will save some money now, and start saving more and more the more work you do yourself.
