Ok so I have been seing the whole start your engine with a switch or the button ones. I was talking about these in class and my teacher who worked at autozone as a manager says that he did it to his old mustang for 3 bucks. I have an 00 accord ex and it looks like there is a lil pop out where I do not have a feature by the moonroof controls. I think it was for some canada only button. Anyways is this true. Can anyone give me a link to a part for that price. Anyone have any know-how in this. Thanks in advance.

Yes, well I dont know abou the $3 part. A member here who happens to work across the parking lot from me (Carbonfly) has it done to his 7th generation. I was thinking of doing the same.

Well i ahve seen the fifty dollar buttons and then they are like another 50 to install. I was tlaking about this and he said he did it too his mustang for 3 dollars. He is auto certified or whatever and said if I brought the part he would wire it as long as I had a punch out left. I do like I said before. Anyways I can't find the part like he said but I did find a 15 dollar switch. But it was gay looking. I want like a lil silver lil prong type switch or a big button.

See if you can go to the dealership and find out what an s2000 Start button costs...ir try the bay. OR you could always get that gay button and spray it silver with car paint. still for a $100 thats not really that bad. Definetly a bonus for a wow factor when you go to sell your car... if yo ufind an idot or a young kid that cant control him/herself they will definetly buy something like that with cool bells and whitsles... thats how I sold my 240sx so damn fast

Yeah he will do it for free. Found a cheap switch at autozone for under 10. Then I just need to pick up the 10 guage wiring and then he will do it with me. Then I can do it for my friend. He is wiring it for free 99.

10 gauge? Isnt that a little much? I mean my subwoofer wire uses 12 gauge and the sub I had in there ate 300 watts through it like nothin

Yeah well better safe than sorry anyways I got it for free. I picked up a switch at autozone for 2.99 I will hopefully write up a guide with lots of pictures and then you all can do it to yor rides. It cost me 2.99 and we are leaving the old ignition intact so if anything goes wrong I am still fine.

I already did it was at either autozone or kragen (sp?) They are super cheap. DOn't get scammed by the racing sites that take advantage of the wow factor and jsut up the price on a 3 dollar switch. And i got the wore free through work and he is doing the labor for free.

IT is not online but i can take a pic of it. It is shiny metal and thin and kinda round. I can't think of any other way to describe it.

that is what it looks like but I don't think it is spring loaded. Mine is just a simple momentary switch but looks the same. You can go fancier (check out 2kracing.com )

Can't you just take an electrical switch and wire it to the starter solenoid?

ya that would be easy ----just find a hot wire hook it to 1 side of the switch & run the other side of the switch to the starter solenoid & put a 15 amp fuse in line someplace

you can buy the s2000 button from honda for 60 bucks however you can not buy the harness for just the back of the button they will sell you the whole thing for the car costs 1200 bucks. there is a guy on ebay selling the button and harness for about 65 bucks and had it installed for another 40 bucks. best and easiest way

I am thinking of putting four dummy switches by the center console that all have to be on to power the start switch. I think that would be cool.
Street Sniper
06-14-2005, 05:59 PM
No, not all of them. Just 1, 2, and 4. If it was all of them anybody could start it. Then you could switch up the combination every once in a while.
Of course if they have to be on to power the switch they wouldn't be "dummy" switches now would they?
