Hi All,</P>

I just bought a '93 Civic Hatchback. I'd like to start thinking about engine mods but would like to start off with the right engine. What engines will fit into my civic? I'm expressly thinking about the vtec sohc 1.6 litre.</P>

go to hondatech.com to use their engine swap table but i would suggest the b16a1 cuz it has the best power to $ ratio lol 160 hp and vtec power for about 1500 dollars good deal!<IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0"></P>

Creful about posting emails addy's and IM's openly.</P>

There are way too many spammers who will hi-jack it and you'll be reading spam for the next few years.</P>

Just put a space or use at instead of @ ie yourname at address dot com.</P>

This is un-harvestable.</P>

I know, it's a pain but alot of my email addy's are on a spam CD.</P>

Sorry it's off topic, maybe I should re-post this o another thread. But I wanted to warn you.</P>

nos is a cheap hp booster too.

i second the nos......cheapest bang for the buck, ever see the tq curve on a nitrous run? its insane. theres alot u can do, even with oem honda parts. sky's the limit. but what exactly do you want out of your build? street/strip, strictly strip? IMO the best way to go for a street/strip would be a vtec engine. strictly drag i would go non vtec as cams are more redily available for cheaper.

How about a giant aluminum wing? Those make you go faster, right? I see them on all the fast cars in my area, you know, Escorts and Accents...awesome!<IMG src=smileys/smiley17.gif border="0"></P>

Wikka

cheers for that!</P>

firstly would my engine be able to handle Nos without unrating everything?</P>

Can anyone recomend any specific exhaust and induction kit? for the best "power per pound (£)"</P>

another brit. jsut take it easy on the nos and u should be fine.

a stock d15can hold up to a 50 shot with no other mods or timing adjustments as long as you know how to use it. with a 65 shot, timing will need to be retarded roughly 2 degrees. on a 75 shot it is recomended you upgrade the fuel pump and retard timing 4 degrees. ive found the on a 75 shot zex wet kit, 47psi fuel pressure at idel with vac not connected, timing retarded 3 degrees, it runs fine on a stock d15. ive had the kit on that car for roughly 8 months and it held up fine. compression #s' dropped roughly 10 acroos but what do you expect outta a d15.

Im not big on NOS, I guess its cool if you want to drastically cut the life expectancy of your engine, but i've never been a fan... especially in a daily driver car. save your money and go for the turbo/S/C. And a 50 shot is like nothing IMO.

if you want your car to be REALLY fast....put stickers all over it along with racing stripes!!!!

Stickers will only fool the onlooker but when that person wants to see the inside of your engine, what r ugonna tell them... 'um I'm too busy at the moment'... LOLs <IMG src=smileys/smiley1.gif border="0"></P>

just tell them "u cant handle whats under the hood" <IMG src=smileys/smiley2.gif border="0">or you could remove the head and show them the inside of ur engine<IMG src=smileys/smiley11.gif border="0"></P>

if you want to put NOS on it i would recomend building the engine up first ior you could just do what the other guy said to do. A good exhaust for yoiur car would be the Skunk2 catback with a high flow cat, and a good CAI would the injen or AEM.

polo708
05-03-2004, 07:13 AM
Skunk2 makes some of the best engine parts for hondas. any part

ImportKid
05-03-2004, 08:10 PM
true there skunk2 civic was tight but yea Nos should only be to get rid off turbolag cuz a big snail on a civic is just aw dropping

f'real......look at high hp drag racers, vtec is locked out. you only need vtec for driveability purposes. as far as NOS tearing the engine.....depends on how you use it. it was meant for track purposes only. if you know how to use it, know how to tune it, you will have no problem with it. but as most of us want power on demand all the time, you may want to scratch that.</P>
