ok so i went to a tuner shop today in Queens, new york , we dont have 2 many down here...a few ppl suggested me to go their, their pretty reputable but kinda pricey but form what i heard they get the job done well.... so i asked about boosting my d15b7 non vtec engine..... the guy said itll be no problem, but he suggested i shouldnt run more than 7 psi with stock internals...... i asked how much for a greddy kit and to install it.... he said the full kit and installation will run u about $3800, its a greddy kit with a t25 turbo and cast manifold, includes full intercooler kit... i then asked him about fuel management.... he said the kit includes fuel management, its a bolt on and i dont need to get seperate software, (hondata, crome,Neptune, ETc) anyway is this true??? and what do u guys think about the price i noe its expensive but this is not something i can do myself, the only mod i really did myself was an intake on my friends lancer and i did my short shifter to but with some help form a mechanic

Most of his customers are probably interested in the quick and easy route. Sitting them downto explain piecing togethertheir own kit, the importance of proper engine management, and how to build their engine for optimum performance, will lose some customers interest. He's a business man trying to get a customer. Can't blame a guy for trying to make a living. Besides, whether or not people educate themselves is not his responsibility.

As for what you're asking. If it's worth it to you go for it. I think a greddy kit on a d15b7 for $3800is a horrible investment though.

turbo + no dedicated engine management = instant engine block window...

Greddy kits come with e-manage so technically you don't NEED to chip your ecu but it is much better to chip than to run the e-manage piggyback system. I wouldn't even go to a shop to get a turbo. "Research until you are blue in the face" then do it yourself. It will be thousands of dollars cheaper.

Pete made it for over a year with e-manage... I'm still not saying it's a good idea. Maybe it's like hit or miss, I think it might even be just a constant chance that something will go wrong with a piggyback. Didn't he say his a/f ratio went horribly wrong then his engine blew or something? I can't remember.

Emanage is not instant death, but in A LOT of cases prolonged death. I would not trust it.

y is that, whats the difference between emanage vs. chipping the ecu

ive been searching a lot on emanage, not to many ppl seem to have problems with running the system

It might be fine if the user gets properly tuned with it, butyou may be surprised if you expect it to be optimumly setout of the box. Different engines even of the same engine codeswill react differently to the same modifications, and the emanage comes programmed as one-size-fits-all. Even if you went to get tuned with it I don't think it would be as accurate as a real tuning system, as emanage is still only a piggyback (an expensive one at that).

e-manage is like a slow painful death, chipped is like healthy reliable car, its pretty simple

I had the GReddy Blue box fuel management system, It was a non tunable FMU. I believe it may have been the cause of my D16s death.

This should get you started. Look around for a shop that will install parts you haven't purchased through them. Piece together a kit, have it installed, and then take itto a place to be properly tuned. For a stock motor with low boost goals you should be able to get away with dirt cheap parts, but you'll have to be willing to doresearch to determine what you need and what you don't. It's not that hard, you could get it all figured out in a few months. Just join a few forums and use the search feature rigorously (google too).Ask questions when you need to, but don't ask something you could answer yourself.

Cheap cast manifold will be fine. And a T25 would be a fine choice, but not for that much. You can get rebuilt T25s for like 50-100 bucks.

is rebuilt ok?? and not to question anyone but didnt petes engine go on him cause of the turbo... i mean cant the cast manifold crack or something if its a cheap ebay product like the headers do?

Kedawei

Rebuilt is fine.

Headers crack at the welds because they are tubular. Cast manifolds are cast.
