Default supercharger?

i read a lot of magazines and post on this and other forums and with a lot of the civic guys you always hear about the turbo but you never really (rarley) hear about the supercharger being put on them, the only time is when im watching some track racing i see more superchargers. why is this, is the turbo better or more cost effective? thanks for any info.

turbo's are cheaper than superchargers, and im many people's opinions, they are more reliable. A lot of Hondas have problems with the belts slipping on superchargers. Also, I've heard superchargers are a lot harder to install.

superchargers are belt driven. turbos are exhaust driven. they both have pros and cons.

IMO a s/c d series feels similar to a low boost b series. like 6 psi.

i personlly go with turbo's but thats me.. i like the feeling of 25psi in a civic hatch lol

I 100% disagree with you. Turbo kits can cost a lot more but a brand new supercharger runs a little higher than a pieced together turbo kit

On a dependability level, turbos suck. There is SO much that needs to be done to the motor and ecu wise that its not funny and the smalles t problem can and will end up becoming the demise of the motor 98% of the time.

Superchargers are nothing to install compared to a turbo. I feel that what you heard about belt slipping is a crock also.

I didnt mean to jump you but that is mere fact.

For the record I run a turbo set up. All of the headaches I have gone through with it... if I were to start form the beginning I would have just supercharged it and been done with it.

Now Im not knocking the turbo though. Turbos seem to have more pros than a supercharger.

Like remmy said, i love the turboed D, but if i ever boost again, its going to be SC. Just to much with turbo, i dont know, maybe you have to have done the turbo thing before you realize, damn, there is a lot more to this than a bolt on SC you can put on in 2-3 hours.
