My loan that i got for the civic will be paid off this winter and i was looking into getting one. Just wanted to see whats everyones opinion. AgentofDarkness 04-30-2007, 05:41 PM Don't like em. Save up and pick up one of the new Sis heymikey19 04-30-2007, 05:48 PM i think they look like crap. i rode in one, so freakin slow. no top end ej6buddy 04-30-2007, 05:56 PM Tc = Total Crap! lol and no, i don't like them one bit heymikey19 04-30-2007, 05:59 PM the only good thing about them, and i mean the only good thing is now everybody drives them. me and my gf have an ongoing thing where she says theres more civics on the road, i swear theres more tc's already and we make sure to point them out as we c them mybrokenblinker 04-30-2007, 06:27 PM My friend has one. And man, lowered with the stock spoiler and waxed...that thing is HOT. But, it only makes 160hp and that's pretty low for a brand new car...if you go for one, get the trd supercharger...sweet. And you always have that toyota reliability. BrianT 04-30-2007, 06:39 PM see thats what i was thinking is i get the toyota relabilty. i'm not really looking for anything that real fast just a decent DD. i don't even know if i will end up getting one or not, i was just thinking about it. mybrokenblinker 04-30-2007, 06:52 PM I think they look sweet. and would be a decent daily with 160 ft lbs. easier for traffic, i know i have to downshift constantly. Fiirkan 04-30-2007, 08:11 PM I would geta Celica GTS before a Scion TC. more power, better lookingand still a Toyota:D ic892003 04-30-2007, 08:31 PM i think their nice, their meant for dd not for speed, their good from what i hear and thy e have a stylish look to them, id get it jus none of the other scions, cant stand those boxes [:'(] AgentofDarkness 04-30-2007, 08:31 PM ORIGINAL: Fiirkan I would geta Celica GTS Do they still make those? What about the MR2 Spyder? I've always wanted to drive one. I think its one of the cheapest, if not the cheapest mid-engine car you can get. It looks like they run in the $8000-$18000 range. Its a 4-cylinder engine with 138HP and 125 torque which is pretty low but I the car is pretty light at 2200lbs. skateman190 04-30-2007, 08:54 PM i think they look nice Fiirkan 04-30-2007, 09:03 PM ORIGINAL: AgentofDarkness ORIGINAL: Fiirkan I would geta Celica GTS Do they still make those? The MR2's are good cars as well. and are VERY nimble AgentofDarkness 04-30-2007, 09:34 PM I think a nice setup would be an MR2 with a turbo or supercharger. I think the Elise uses a Toyota 4 cylinder engine. dentinger 04-30-2007, 11:12 PM yupp, thr elise dose use a toyota engine.... altho i think they use a supercharger version of it... or maybe thats just in the Exige version.....whatever anyways, back to the topic.... the TC are kinda nice, but im only saying that cuz ive never actually seen one.. we dont get them up here in canada..... only the boxes.... um, what about a skyline??:Dlol and the Tc's are pretty much just a celica replacement.... come on over to the dark side... get a mazda3!! lol oh, and i go with a MR2... can u say drift?? or what about a MR-S?? sandrider123 05-01-2007, 01:46 AM I like the scion TC its pretty nice in my opinion, and I like how open the scion brand is to modification Overurhead360 05-01-2007, 07:26 AM +1 on the save up and get a new Si. Tc's look kind of nice, they have alot of options, but they don't cut it under the hood. cderalow 05-01-2007, 08:31 AM having driven one, they handle like poop heymikey19 05-01-2007, 03:56 PM ORIGINAL: cderalow having driven one, they handle like poop having obviously also driven poop, how does that handle? andryuha 05-01-2007, 04:12 PM If I was in the market for a small, reliable car, I would definitely pick something RWD, such as miata or z3 (Z4 or m-roadster if you have money) Mad7s 05-01-2007, 04:41 PM see thats what i was thinking is i get the toyota relabilty Is there any question as to Honda's reliability? I say be purist and stick with the Si. If you do go for the Tc though, definitely get the S/C model. A friend of mine regretted the decision not to get it a month after he bought the thing. BrianT 05-01-2007, 05:12 PM I doubt that i get the s/c model. i don't want anything thats fast, i doubt i put any mods on it at all. i just want something that gets me back and forth from school and work, nothing to flashy. after i get out of school, thats when i plan on getting something with a little get up and go. sacicons 05-01-2007, 07:09 PM I like Tcs a lot, but why do you want to jump into another car payment? why not put the 300 bucks a month into the civic? or a savings account. BrianT 05-01-2007, 07:26 PM it's got a lot of miles on the car, CV joint boots are busted, i ran over a curb and front bumper is messed up. i kinda want a newer car as well. sandrider123 05-02-2007, 03:05 PM well with right around 300$ you can fix those few things. You got a nice car, and lucky for you there are aftermarket parts all over the place to update the civic and give it a newer feel to it. drbyers 05-02-2007, 03:14 PM save your money. scion redesigned the Xa and Xb this year and will probably release a new Tc next year. And from the looks of spy shots, it will look utterly rediculous with its bloated C pillars and bloated flanks. if you want to spend $16,000 - $20,000 for a new car get a new civic, mazda3 or even an impreza. ej6buddy 05-02-2007, 03:36 PM ORIGINAL: BrianT it's got a lot of miles on the car, CV joint boots are busted, i ran over a curb and front bumper is messed up. i kinda want a newer car as well. usually, only the outter boots rip, i just replaced mine about a week ago, it cost me a total of under 12 bucks for the kit to replace it. and if your bumper is screwed up, then just get an sir version of the bumper with the black trim. you can do what you want, but that would suck to start all over on another car payment as well as higher insurance. cderalow 05-02-2007, 03:41 PM or worst case if you don't want the hassle of replacing jsut the cv boots, do the axles in their entirety (about $70 a side for parts) and as for having driven poop.... it handled well for poop jd352 05-04-2007, 07:32 AM ORIGINAL: drbyers save your money. scion redesigned the Xa and Xb this year and will probably release a new Tc next year. And from the looks of spy shots, it will look utterly rediculous with its bloated C pillars and bloated flanks. if you want to spend $16,000 - $20,000 for a new car get a new civic, mazda3 or even an impreza. The impreza's are nice as a good DD car especially with the AWD and it gets decent MPG. Sure, it is not the quickest thing but that is not what you are looking for. Subaru usually has good and cheap leasespecials almost all the time to get people in their cars (usally about 42 mos and $169 a month with a little or no down depending on the special). Something like that would be good since you are talking about going to school and you have the option to get rid of it after you are done. I liked them alot when I test drove them and almost got one, but the insurance on it would have killed me since it would cost more to insure the car a month than the actually payments would have been. Just take a look at your options and go out and drive some cars, i randomly show up at dealerships and test drive cars all the time just to see what a certain car is like as it gets you a good feel for almost any car. drbyers 05-04-2007, 09:08 AM the insurance on my turbocharged WRX was less than the insurance on my 06 Civic Ex. It just depends on where you live and some other factors. btw, my WRX was the most trouble free car i've ever owned, and I've owned 8 different hondas or acuras at one point. but the maintenance costs on a WRX are a muddabeetch. Gene J 05-04-2007, 10:20 AM ORIGINAL: BrianT it's got a lot of miles on the car, CV joint boots are busted, i ran over a curb and front bumper is messed up. i kinda want a newer car as well. If you've got money for payments, you've got money for the repairs. It is always cheaper to keep an old car going than to buy a new car. Your '98 is not that old. I understand your beingtired of driving the "same old" car though. Fix it up and save your money for after you graduate. The amount of money a new car depreciates the first year will buy a lot of repairs on the old one. mr.deux 05-04-2007, 10:28 AM ORIGINAL: dentinger yupp, thr elise dose use a toyota engine.... altho i think they use a supercharger version of it... or maybe thats just in the Exige version.....whatever there is both a turbo charged and a super charged version for the elise/exige. THE CARS ENTIRE EXSISTANCE IS TO AVOID JUST THAT!!!! andryuha 05-04-2007, 11:30 AM Now that I think about it, I have no idea why you would want to get into another debt. IMO, that's the stupidest thing one could do while in school. If you decide to sell this car - get a reliable beater. andryuha 05-04-2007, 11:33 AM ORIGINAL: mr.deux ORIGINAL: dentinger oh, and i go with a MR2... can u say drift?? WHAT THE....!!!! ARE YOU..!!!! THE CARS ENTIRE EXSISTANCE IS TO AVOID JUST THAT!!!! took the words right out of my mouth. That car is very well balanced and hugs the curves quite well. A drift car would be something like AE86, 240sx, supra (which is very tail happy and handles like crap), or an '80s RX7. AgentofDarkness 05-04-2007, 11:53 AM ORIGINAL: drbyers but the maintenance costs on a WRX are a muddabeetch. That is of course if you're comparing same years and mileage. dblclutchin 05-05-2007, 01:21 AM ^ Ooops yah my bad, had no idea that TC's were that cheap. andryuha 05-05-2007, 08:59 AM ORIGINAL: dblclutchin ^ Ooops yah my bad, had no idea that TC's were that cheap. But I do agree that RSX is a much better car in all regards. ryank327 05-05-2007, 09:07 AM How much do the TCs run. 15-16 grand? I'll admit the styling isnt bad. But those things are heavy as hell and I hate them mainly because every person that drives them around here tosses a Systemand an intake on it with some stickers and thinks theyre the shiat. Basically the way I see it TC=Automatic Rice mybrokenblinker 05-05-2007, 12:27 PM they don't weigh that much...they are in the 2k's cyberx32 05-06-2007, 12:04 AM The hids are nice on those cars Nail I3unny 05-06-2007, 09:51 AM ORIGINAL: ej6buddy Tc = Total Crap! I think the only thing sthey have in common are the engine and transmission. I can't imagine them having the same suspension setup. They are also quite different in size. IMO, TC is in the same class as civic, but looks much better. (the new 4dr civic looks like crap imo. It tries to look like audi in the back and TSX in the front).
