Audio/Visual & Electronics - i can hear my engine

i can hear a high pich sound that sounds like the engine is reving i have already put a new location for a ground wire and it still hasen't done anything and i don't have any wires touching each other

this only happens in auxillary mode

has any one else had this problem

if so how do you fix it???

there are waymore causes of alternator whine than just a bad ground. it can be anywhere from the ground of the amp, ground of the radio,could be a bad set ofrca's if you have an amp. also check the power connections as well. make sure also that there are no splits in the speaker wire where it could be grounding out.
If you are using the stock ground on the radio try running a return ground. to do this disconnect the ground from theradio wireharness and run a new wire, something like a 14gauge, to the same place as the amp ground and ground it there and it may get rid of the ground loop that it sounds like you are having.
Another thing you might try is if you have an extra set of rca cables laying around, switch them with the ones that you have in there now.
One last thing is that if its only on the auxilary mode and none of the above works, the problem might be the actually radio, which actually negates the purpose of all of the above.

You need some GLI (ground loop isolators)...I had/have the same problem so i bought some GLI's and fixed the problem right up....there just not hooked up right now.....


they work great...just run it through your rca's and then to your amp

ya i forgot about ground loop isolators. they are not 100% garunteed to work but they do solve the problem quite often and its a cheap fix

Ground loop isolators are like band-aids, it doesn't actually fix the problem.

1. Power next to RCAs
2. Pioneer HU
3. Bad Ground on HU/Amp

it may very well be a condensor problem. i dont know if the distibutor on a honda motor has this kind of condensor, but it probably does. a distributor gives off high frequency tones and the condensor cancells them out so you dont hear them through your speakers. kinda like when you have a cell fone sitting next to a speaker and you get a call or txt msg. a lot of cars get this problem over time

I had this problem, fixed it with the big 3 upgrade + an isolated ground back to the battery. Is your amp an alpine by any chance? I had big problems with this ground loop isolators didn't even work.
