Header, Intake, & Exhaust - 3 Custom catback questions

I have a muffler already on the car but i want to do a custom cat-back with 2.25" mandrel-bent piping.

1.First of all, how does that setup sound?
2.and second of all, how much would that cost being welded by a local muffler shop compared to buying a catback and putting ot on myself?
3.how much difference will i notice in sound, and performance?

I assume you havey8? I got ~ 7-8Hp (according to the G-tech) with the addition of my cat-back. You will have to order mandrel bends and have the muffler shop fab them up with some straight runs because I've never even heard of a muffler shop with a mandrel bender. You are probably looking at 100 for the bends and another 100 for the labor. Not bad.

y7 unfortunately but i have a y8 head thats going on this summer. and where could i find the individual components like the mandrel bends?

Magnaflow sells them. Check around first, it's rare but there are some shops that do mandrel bends. You will save significantly by having the shop custom make the exhaust as compared to buying a catback and installing it yourself.

well i can tell u, it wont sound the same as buying an actual catback, performance will be the same tho

buy a cat back. that way you can jus bolt it up.

with a custom setup it wont always be perfect fitment. and i know shops charge hourly. so IMO it'd be the sensable idea to jus buy a catback and bolt it on in your driveway in an hour or 2.
