I have a 92 Civic DX and I have D16z6 for it. It came with the car when i got it. Anyway I was wondering if this engine has much potencial. I would like a fast engine but i don't need it crazy fast although thats not a bad thing. The site I found with what seems to be good info said that the d16z6 has 125hp@6600 my current engine has only 102hp@5900 so thats a pretty good jump. Anyway I am babling what do you think is it worth saving for a diffrent engine or put mods in what have(the D16z6 that is)?

Well I'm going to work with the d16z6 I have. But that's cuz I'm a lazy guy. There are a few parts for this engine out there, but not as much as there are for the B-series engines.

youll like that engine, especially if you get the 5-speed trans for it. even if yours is a manual, consider putting in the trans from a sohc vtec as well.

I'm actually thinking of getting a tranny from a dx. I like taller gears. Or if I may be could get custom gearing...daydreaming:-D

Yea, I know. But I just hate that short first. I love all the others, but that first kills all the fun. I hate shifting at 20mph.

if its an option, the best thing you could do, is to build the motor before it ever goes in.

Yeah... Wel the thing is i really don't even know what i should put in my engine i i would like to pretty much make it go as fast as a d16z6 can go haha well over time but i don't know much about engine mods and i have been looken all over he net trying to find somthing about engine mods telling me what they do and stuff like cam gears how they can make a diffrence with diffrent ones. i LOVE reading about that kind of stuff like your Back pressure thing i like learning about that kind of stuff. other then cold air intake and new pipes oh and CPU(witch i don't really know how to do much with) i know nothing of improving my engine. if u had a link even to thing about stuff... haha well you know.

go to amazon or barnes and noble, and look at the honda builders books they have. you will learn a TON from reading those.

in honda motors at least the d-series i know that even a 5-10hp increase is a pretty good jump from like what these motors are putting out like around 100 hp unless you have a v-tec which is like 20 more hp,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,but any little bolt on with the d-series will see a pretty good boost in power...very noticable

dude, for a z6, i would start off with increasing the exhaust piping...you can go to a muffler shop, and have them just install a custom exhaust for about $40-$65...2inch piping or 2 1/4" is more than enough...then get yourself a header, and cold air intake...also pick up and ex/si tranny....pick up an msd ignition which im selling ($90 shipped/used)...the extra spark does alot for your engine...by the way did you swap in the p28 ecu...if not, you might want to get one of those...if you dont have the p28, most likely your vtec isnt engaging...

I had a d16y8 in my coupe...i had put an msd ignition, cold air intake, exhaust, header, bigger injectors, 62mm throttle body, port and polished head, with over sized crower valves and stage 2 cam, srp pistons (.010 over), eagle rods, and a stage 2 clutch, with a chipped p28...and that motor was ripping it up...

now i just picked up a z6...and im starting to work on it also... as for the comment someone made earlier as in there not being as many parts for the z6 than for a b series..thats totally wrong...and the fact that parts are usually cheaper for a z6 than for a b series is also a plus...

i just signed up to this forum because i was looking at this swap page, i have a 95 cx hatch with a d16z6 in it with just some little stuff, iceman intake, header, full tanabe racing madalion 2 1/2" exhaust. and i dont have a problem with the power in it. it will rip for a stock motor compared to the original dog d15 that was in it.

im gunna get pics soon, the only thing thats not ugly is under the hood, someone did some bad body work and paint before i bought the car, and the black stocker 14's on it dont help the apearance either. but ill try to get some pics for you.
