200+ HP TURBO????
Hey,
I have a 1996 Civic Dx (d16y7), and I’m working on getting all the pieces for the turbo kit. I’m going to go the custom kit way because it is much cheaper and I know my way around cars…
I have been told that I need a goal for the car before I start getting the parts for the turbo kit and I’m looking to get somewhere around 200-220whp [/b]so that I can keep my stock internals and keep the car as a DD (Daily Driver).
My Questions-
1. Some good brands of turbos (I have heard of the garret T-25, T3/T4) are these good turbos if I want to make 200-220whp?
2. Some good intercoolers (I don’t want to have to do too much body/ frame work to the car to make it fit) dimensions and brands would be great.
3. Some good Headers on Ebay or somewhere that will allow me to keep my AC. (my down pipe has a Triangle, 3 screw, connection)
4. also some good online retail stores I can look at for the misc. items like blow off valves, boost controllers, etc.

1. Well This has alot to do with when your Turbo will reach boost. With a T25 it's a much smaller turbo and would spool alot quicker (2500-3000ish) but you wouldn't make as much power. The T3T4 turbo spools alot later 5000rpms ish (all depends on different kinds of parts and setups you use) But the T3T4 makes alot more power.
2. A cheapo ebay intercooler will work just fine as i've heard, im not quite sure about sizes as i've never had one, ill let someone answer this one.
3. Ebay is your friend, just make sure theres brands. cheapo BOV's i've heard work good, but i kow that Greddy and HKK (i thnik) make top of the line BOVS.

i heard that cheap ebay BOV's work well, but ImporTuner had an article comparing gneeric ebay products to legit products and actaulyl BOVs were one of the products they said stay away from......i've heard of people getting by with them, so its the ebay risk like always

if you have the money, it's ball bearing turbo, so it would spool faster and can easily handle your power goals.
