I have a D16Y7 with the 4spd. auto transmission. I don't really know much about transmissions, and I'm wondering what is the best way to switch to a manual transmission? Also, I've heard the D series trannys are somewhat weak, are there ways to make it stronger and more durable? Thanks for any help.

best way is to trade the carin for a manual, becasue after you do the conversion it total price gona cost you more the just sell and buy another car.. but if you want i have a jdm D series LSD for 92-99 civic.

So this is the only option? It's too hard to get Civics where i am from and I had to get the auto. I was hoping that I at least had some options in the vast halls of the civic aftermarket

I could do it myself, but I was hoping for much better automatic parts...I'm gonna be moving to St.Johns Newfoundland where it is very hilly (like a tone downed san fransisco) with alot of ice, so i would rather the auto for now. too much struggling to bother with for a daily driver. thanks for the info though, i may do this later in life if my civic is still around.

No it's not, the parts are pretty cheap, you don't need very much.
