ECU Tuning & Fuel Management - when do i worry about ECU's?

ok, i was just wondering, in general, how far into the build would one normally get before they fianlly decide to work on the ECU? so far all ive done is i/h/e. would looking into like a chipped ECU, be beneficial to me at my current point in my build? or is it too soon and should i be looking to improve others 1st? if so, what kinds of other things should i be working on 1st?

Well if you do not want to take the i/h/e off (like for a turbocharger) then you have two choices: Nitrous or building the motor. If you go with nitrous then you don't HAVE to modify the ecu but if you change engine internals like the cam then you need to chip your ecu and get it dyno tuned. So, what are your plans for it?

ok, so basically you need to worry about the ecu when you mess with internals or go boosted right? well honestly, as far as internals, i did want to get a new bumpstick and cam gear. mayb ported and polished. i guess i should definitely tune with the new cam. i do want to go boosted in the future, but i just dont have the money right now. and i have other stuff to worry about like, getting my rims already and dropping it. getting my tints, CF hood, lip. then i'll probably try and go boosted. but im progressing really slowly cuz i have to keep paying for a lot of other random stuff, so im always low on cash lately.

This is really how you would do it.
Wheels/Suspension
- FI? N/A?
FI - ECU right away
N/A - I/H/E - ECU - Engine build

so basically i can go to ECU either way cuz even if im going n/a ive already done my i/h/e as you can see from my sig.

yeah another thing. how exactly is the ECU tune gonna help. like whats does it do to help the car out. doesnt it mess with the air and fuel and stuff. like doesnt it lean it out for some more hp. is a chipped ECU a stock ECU with a actual chip? and whats up with stuff like crome or hondata 300 or something like that?
