Default new 94 civic

i just boughta 94 civic dx. the guy who i bought it from told me it burned alittle bit of oil. about1/2 qt. every 250-300 miles. it smokespretty good while its warming up. but after that its not that bad unless i get on it. the guy thinks maybe the valve seals. im thinking maybe the head gasket but i dont really know and idont want to rip apart themotor or heads with out some sort of directions or idea.itried that stuff you put in the oil and its definatly slows it down a lot.

I dont see anyway itd point to head gasket... Id check the compression and if its good, probably is valve seals. My brother had a vw jetta with the same problem and valve seals stopped the smoke.

When mine did that I changed the valve seals and it didn't help. Smoke that gets worse when you floor it is probably because the piston rings are worn out.
