I have chaged it 4 times within 4 months. What can cause it to burn out so often?
I heard it can be the computer. But wat else? LIst all possiblities please.

Are you using OEM parts? Are you replacing the whole thing or just the cap/rotor? is it the ignition coil??

As mentioned by mxs, it's unclear what component in your distributors is burning out. The first thing that comes to mind, however, is that you may have a shorted wire/connector somewhere in the distributor/ignition circuit (picture). Have you had any problems with fuse 9 blowing in the under-dash fuse/relay box? Is fuse 9 a 15A fuse as recommended?

My mech said it was some coil or something. it usually takes like about 1000 miles before i need a new one. What i noticed was that my rpms keep going up and down when the car is warmed up and at idle so it might be the comp. As for the fuse thing i dont think so. I am no mech by any means RonJ so that diagram you showed me makes no sense to me. O and i and using OEM parts and its the whole thing. I am just gonna sell it.

The entire distributor assembly would not need to be replaced if either the coil or ICM fails. You might want to get a second opinion from a different mechanic. In the long run, this might be cheaper than selling the car and buying another one.

Based on limited information that you have given, my speculation is that you have either an electrical short somewhere along the BLK/YEL wire running between the ignition switch and the distributor or a faulty ground wire coming from the ICM or the TDC/CKP/CYP sensor.

Also, does the CEL work properly and do you retrieve any codes from the ECU?

The light does not even come on at all. Even when it is in the on position. It was an engine swap and it was my cuz that did it. So i dont kno about the wires but i had a couple of mechs check them and they sait it was fine. Dont know about the ground.
