Product: KYB AGX Adjustable Shocks/Struts
Distributor: eBay
Vehicle: 92-95 Civic, 92-97 CRX, 92-97 Civic Del Sol, 94-01 Acura Integra (excluding type R)
Cost:Â*around $300 shipped
Installation:Â*2Â*spring compressors, jack, jackstands, sockets/socket wrench, Liquid Wrench/PB Blaster/WD40 for seized bolts[:@], allen keys (if you're stillÂ*on stock shocks/struts), wrenches, breaker bar, time and patience.Â*Â*Â*(it also helps to have air tools:D)
Installation time:Â*Â* 4 hoursÂ* (my 3rd time doing this though, my 1st time took about 8 hours)Â* You might run into seized bolts so I would start at the beginning of a weekend to allow plenty of time.Â* I was fortunate enough to not have any seized bolts. If you live where it snows, you have higher chances of running into seized bolts.
Review:Â* Overall a great product.Â* I'd say you get your bang for the buck out of these.Â*
There are 4 settings for dampening, numbered 1-4, with 1 being softest, 4 being hardest.Â* Adjusts with a tiny flathead screwdriver (1 included with each shock/strut) at the top of the piston very easily and conveniently.Â* Right now I have all 4 set on "2."
I chose these over the Tokico Illuminas because I have read that the adjuster on the Illuminas breaks easily, rendering the shock no longer adjustable.
I have these paired with H&R Sport Springs and I also bought KYB boots and strut mounts to replace my crappy ones.Â* I recommend the KYB boots as they fitÂ*better on the shocks/strutsÂ*since they are the same brand of course, and the boots compress instead of the stock ones which are metal and can sometimes make squeakingÂ*noises.Â*
There is definitely a huge difference in handling with these shocks and strutsÂ*- less body roll, can swerveÂ*more safely if needed, etc.Â* Makes it a lot more fun to take the back winding roads.Â* When going over bumps the car doesn't feel too bumpy, but there is still not much travel with the shocks, which is great because it keeps my 205/40/17 tires from rubbing.Â* Car seems to grip the road a lot better around corners which gives me a safer feeling while i'm driving.Â*
All the parts fit on my vehicle without any problems, and i'm very pleased with this purchase.Â* Probably the best 300 dollars i've ever spent on my car.Â* I'm glad I chose these over the comparable Tokico Illuminas.
Bottom Line:Â* You WILL notice a BIG difference in your ride with these shocks and struts.Â*
EDIT: I used to have these on my '93 Civic DX Sedan at the time this review was written. I now have them on my '93 Del Sol Si. They handle great on it too.
