I haven't posted in a couple of weeks because while I was home for Christmas I worked almost every day, not to mention getting my wisdom teeth out. Anyways, the reason I worked so much was so I could install all my stereo stuff and I did so here it is.

I got the following equipment:

Pioneer DEH-P6900UB Head Unit:http://memimage.cardomain.net/member_images/10/web/2950000-2950999/2950904_39_full.jpg

I also ordered all the wires and cables from knuconcepz.

This is what the new trunks setup looks like:

I installed a hinge so I could still get at my spare tire:

I have all alpine too (except HU and amps)
front type X, mid type R, rear type R, sub type X

To be honest I don't know...they just don't get loud enough for my taste, and i hate the sound of the type Xs

Nice setup.

Let me know how that type R sub holds up on that alpine amp. I am looking to get the same setup for my wife's CR-V. 1 10 and a 400w alpine mono amp most likely. Just something to not sound so, ... boring.

hey there ltkenbo,
I was suggested to get the amp as well as I heard it was really good! however I can get the alpine MRV-F345 for cheaper so I'm not sure as to which one to choose. How much did you spend on your parts total?

I also been told that alpine was a really good brand - is this true? because I am planning to get everything alpine as well.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris.

Sweet... Looks good. Glad to hear you're happy with em - I just bought the same components, 6x9s, and 4 channel amp; just waiting for them to arrive now.

Is that a single sub, or do you have one on each side?

How does it sound? I've been trying to think of a way to add a sub without losing any trunk space (or the spare tire).

i'm wondering also. i don't wanna screw with the truck, that looks like it could work, even if it was a single 10". maybe i could make something up to face downward?

Actually with the way the speakers are facing, perpendicular to the rears and opposite the fronts, it doesn't help with volume very much , due to some cancellation in sound waves
It isn't too terribly bad, considering it's behind the seats so cancellation with the fronts isnt too bad since the sound waves bounce off the walls of the car before it comes into contact with those two etc.
Try it out for yourself
those are actually two 6.5s in a sealed box, now vented for a bit more volume
(they do not share the same air space)
i put the tweeters for them as well as the type X speakers in the rear panels like can be seen in the pictures

Thanks for all the comments guys :D

Yes I definately plan on carpeting it its just I finished it like 1 day before I had to come back up to school and right after I got my wisdom teeth out. So the carpet has to wait for now. Yeah in reply to chrisfun8806, the reason I got alpine was I had heard pretty much nothing but good things about them. All the stuff sounds amazing, im not a huge audiophile or anything, but I think its sounds really good. And I still have to finish tuning all the gain stuff and adjusting everything. As far as the amp, how much can you get that one your telling me for?

Here's what I spent on everything (well I got a few things for Christmas but)

Oh and I correct myself on the head unit, I got DEH-690UB not the DEH-P6900UB (even though there's very little difference). Anyways, I got all my stuff from onlinecarstereo.com and got great prices compared to the usual.

Pioneer DEH-690UB: $215
Alpine SPR-17C: $87
Alpine SPR-69C: $98
Alpine MRP-M650: $193
Alpine MRP-F550: $225
Alpine SWR-1242D: $139.50

Plus like $60 for the 2 amp wiring kits, and 4 channel and 2 channel 6m RCA cables from knuconceptz.com, and like $40 for the MDF so I spent like $1100

good prices....lol if u want an alpine headunit to go along with all that, im selling my cda-9855.

I chose the pioneer head unit cause my friend had it and I loved the ipod interface and the display.

eventualy i want to upgrade my interior speakers to all alpine componets, just to cheap right now...
expetialy with puting my one civic back stock :(

but for you guys thinking of just puting the sub in the back seat... it wont be good at all... keep the subs in the trunk for your best bass reflection off the back of the trunk lid...

hey itekenbo, i got my amp for about $250AUD, however its second hand though. I thought I got a good deal at the time but now looking at your parts and prices...I'm not so sure anymore...

ltkenbo
01-20-2008, 10:37 PM
$250 AUD is about $220 USD so yeah you could have gotten a bigger amp like mine for the same price. You should really go to onlinecarstereo.com

imshirazy

or ebay :P

ltkenbo
01-21-2008, 09:27 AM
Yeah ebay too except you don't always get the warranties then though.

imshirazy
01-21-2008, 05:37 PM
imo, warranties are for people who don't know how to take care of their products
and some ebay stores actually do give warranties too anyway :)

jhsplaya08
01-21-2008, 05:55 PM
^ thats the dumbest thing i have ever heard. warranties WARRANTY the product that you purchase in case the item defects or malfunctions! if you pay alot of money for something, its best to get a warranty that way it can be replaced if something happens.

chrisfun8806

i wish i could buy from online car stereo. too bad they dont have international shipping though[:@]

01-21-2008, 06:25 PM
ok now that i got my amp I am looking for a sub to go with it.
im thinking about this one here because I saw it on ebay -

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/archive/TS-W306C/index.html

Do you think this sub will go alright with the amp i mentioned before?
still got about 2 days to go before auction ends.

Thanks,
Chris.

ltkenbo

No sometimes they won't warranty it unlesss it was sold from an authorized dealer.

Did I not say it's for people who don't know how to take care of their products?
I've repaired all my amplifiers, each one that has fried or blown a mosfet or the like I have fixed on my own
you shouldn't be so opinionated, it makes you a jackass or ignorant
yeah most people don't fix their own amps
well maybe they should learn to
Warranty products require paperwork, time and sometimes money
most people blow their amps from wiring it wrong, therefore voiding their own product from warranty anyway
if the amp is faulty, then fine send it back through warranty, but even ebay stores accept returns on faulty products with or without warranty, you'd be a fool not to do THIS, not to get something not warrantied...
At least if you know how to fix them, you can save yourself a lot of money if you did a stupid mistake to void the warranty, and can fix it yourself (we all make mistakes or sometimes don't double check)
Most amplifier repairs cost 200+, I've fixed all mine for 12 bucks or less

and if you can't fix it, well then http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y203/imshirazy/S6000551.jpg

but the above was unfixable anyway
friend has a loose power cord
came loose, flung around in the trunk, made sudden sharp electrical charges to the ground, channels, etc, not everything can be fixed but that's most often from stupid actions

i got a WARRANTY with my 9855 because i had heard that the glidetouch messes up after some time. or, the motorized face could stop working. i havent had any trouble at all out of it but i just wanted to be safe. so there.

How do you like the amp? I've got the exact same speakers and I'm looking for an amp.

chrisfun8806
01-23-2008, 09:45 PM
ok I went to shop today where I'm going to get my amp (alpine MRV-F345) and sub installed and they guy said that installing it in the civic will not be worth the effort. He said that if I use an amp on the factory HU then there is goign to be a significant amount of engine noise. He has done it several times on the civic and he doesn't recommend it because most customers come back and request to take their aftermarket part off. Its that bad apparently. But if I still really want to get it installed then they will still do it.

Is there any truth to this. I really badly want to improve the sound system in the civic but if its going to turn out bad maybe I should just leave it as it is.

imshirazy
01-24-2008, 08:17 AM
I have a full alpine system in mine, and not a single bit of engine noise.
Your "guy" probably has no certification or understanding on how to fix ground loops and the like.
I'm not sure exactly what your civic is, but I'm sure there will be no problems in noise.
Just try another shop, see what they say.
Not to mention there's numerous solutions for engine noise anyway

ltkenbo
01-24-2008, 02:15 PM
yeah i never have any engine noise in mine. The only time I have any noise is when it's really cold out ??? dunno, and its only when the CD player is turning on. chrisfun8806, you should go to: http://www.caraudio.com they have a list of the top 10 cheapest places to get stereo stuff.

Alpine Equitment is ok. i work at a stero shop and i was reading a little early someone was looking at the civic with the single sub in the vehical and the only problem with that is that looked to be a mid bass driver witch in some ways will still produce a High pass note and this will through off your staging in the carmusic is recorded to play from side to side just no room for a middle unless a processer is added there are plenty of ways to do a sub and not mess up the trunk any question on how post and let me know

i will worn the few out there who do care also that the internet is a big problem in the car audio world today many companies that i sell such as memphis JL audio Boston acoustics and many more DO NOT WARRENTY INTERNET SALES so do yourself, andthe people who do still care about the customer a favor andcome to a shop get it done rite and buy product that will be taken care of if it messes up

Itkenbo i really like ur setup. I think i will do pretty much the same as you[8D]
but instead i will have a mrp-m450 for the mono amp to power my sub - with my sub being the SWS-1243D. Not as good as yours but thats what my budget can afford~~

Thanks for showing your setup it has helped me decide.

Hey guys I have a question about impedence on subs. If the amp i was looking at has 400W RMS x 1 [2ohms@14.4V 1% THD], which sub would be better

a dual 4-ohm impedance

or just a 4-ohm impedance.

basically what is the difference between dual and single, and how should i choose.

ltkenbo
01-27-2008, 09:44 PM
If you wanna run it at 2ohms you need the dual 4 ohm voice coils so you can run the coils in parallel (1/R1 + 1/R2 = 1/R3). (1/4 + 1/4 = 1/2 = 2ohm impedance.
