Default Cylinder head Sensor!

I am in the middle of a head gasket replacement and while removing the sensors I broke one. I am not sure what it is for. It is the brass one with no connector just a wiring going dircetly to it, that is next to I believe the engine coolent sensor. Is this a camshaft postion sensor?

Is it a 93' hatchback DX.

Thanks
Eric

I just realized that the sensor must be the sender for the gauge seeing how it one has one wire and is made of brass. I guess if it was a position sensor it would have some sort of metal pickup on it.

Am I correct on this being for the Temp. Gauge?

Yes, it sounds like the temperature sending unit for the dash gauge.

That is the "sender" that drives the temperature gauge on the dashboard.

The easiest way to replace a head gasket is to lift the entire top of the motor assembly -- head, manifolds, fuel injectors, sensors, etc. off as one piece.
