i'm getting a wrecked car with a d16z6 in it, but the valve cover doesn't say vtec on it, so does this mean it isn't the right cover or is the wrong head on it?
Engine & Internal - d16z6 vtec?View Full Version : d16z6 vtec? SilverWrench 01-29-2008, 04:19 PM i'm getting a wrecked car with a d16z6 in it, but the valve cover doesn't say vtec on it, so does this mean it isn't the right cover or is the wrong head on it? reaper2022 01-29-2008, 04:47 PM does it have any lettering on it? I've seen aftermarket vc's with no lettering (as well as stock vc's that had been shaved). Also, if it still is vtec, it could be a y8 head. addiction2bass 01-29-2008, 04:51 PM dito..... look for the Vtec solonoid on the back of the heat by the distributor. CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG GUYS.... but i believe its the part with the green conector on it... http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e250/addiction2bass/94civic%20project/head%20removed/94civichead-04-1.jpg i sold the old head off my Z6 motor with a 96-00 valve cover without the Vtec lettering cause i wanted to keep the nicer valve cover ;) SilverWrench 01-29-2008, 05:43 PM cool, thanks dudes, it looks just like the engine in reaper2022's signature except it doesn't say vtec on it, even if it isn't vtec i'm taking it cause its FREE:D Lost 01-29-2008, 06:42 PM It is VTEC, when I bought my 92 Si hatch the sales man told me it wasnt VTEC cause it didnt say VTEC on teh cover. What an idiot, the soloniod was in plain view plus its an Si, plus its a D16Z6 engine. I didnt say anything cause i didnt want him to raise the price on me. lawlersauce 02-10-2008, 08:23 PM Aren't all d16z6 vtec? I could be wrong. riceburner700 02-10-2008, 08:30 PM yes they are |
