Hi
I have a 1.5 SOHC and i want to swap to a 1.6 esi,i phoned the person i would be getting the engine from and they said it was a BA..7 i think???it is 125 BHP
Would it be a straight swap with my 1.5lsi he is providing me with the ecu and wiring loom?
Thanks

nope, you'll need motor mounts for a b series motor

if you're getting a B16 to replace your SOHC you'll need a B-seriel tranny(should be with the engine) and according ECU plus other small parts.

what is a tranny???The engine will come with an ecu,my question is is it a major job or is it relatively simple???

tranny is short for transmission, for the most part, no SOHC tranny will bolt to a DOHC motor.
You'll need the wiring for the B16, the motor mounts, ecu, possibly axles, I'm not sure for the EG civics on axles. Other then that you should be good to go.
Consider replace the clutch, throw out bearing, timing belt, water pump, alternator, and starter while you have the motor out of the cart before dropping it in so you have no worries down the road.

cool,it comes with wiring and ecu and mounts so it is only the transmission i have to check?

yea but is it only coming with the orginal mounts? The mounts you need are custom fabercated (sp) mounts to make the motor bolt onto your mounts

yeah your going to need the motor mounts that are custom made for your car to bolt in a B series motor

right i have found out the exact model engine number and it is a d16z1 which is a 1.6 V-Tec
The guy reckons i won't need to change any of the ransmission or anything and all i will need is the wiring???
Does anyone happen to know the BHP for it???
Cheers

i sure hope if YOU are installing this u have a buddy who has done a swap before. It is not an easy task i hear. Make sure u have a car to drive around as this swap is taking place.....ur going to run into little problems that will set u back a bit. The D16 motor has 125 HP @ 6600 Rpms.

Yeah swap D seires engines is pretty easy....but if u never had vtec before u well need ECU and may have to wire the Vtec selinoid in...
According to the site i have been using for engine info i got this on the D16z1
D15Z1 1.5 16VSOHC VTEC-E PGM-FI 1493 92hp@5500rpm 97tq@4500rpm 92-95 Civic VX
I know u put D16z1.. but as far as i can tell there is only a d15z1

Um it's not to bad and u my not even need to i didn't have to when i swaped to vtec... if u do well it's not real easy i don't think it's bad though... but i never did it.... if the engine is coming with a ECU then it will work just fine.. i was trying to find the DIY for wiring the vtec for u but i can't find it again.... there will be one on the net if u need it. But don't get to worryed u might not even need to wire it up... but then again you might
