The tires on the HX rims will fit better, you should get new fender liners when you get those wheels on it. I have new fender liners coming soon. croninc 05-20-2009, 10:16 PM i couldnt help but think that your car was getting a stiffy lol. Very cool tho. addiction2bass 05-21-2009, 01:39 AM odd... i never eat up my inner fenders on my old black civic. danomatic93 05-21-2009, 09:39 AM ^I think some road debris smacked the inner fender against the tire and it go wedged between the frame the the wheel. addiction2bass 05-21-2009, 11:24 AM still odd.LOL you sure your not rubbing that sucker hard when turning and hit a dip? only thing i dont like is the white lettering out on the tires. NIKE H34D 05-21-2009, 11:56 AM i like the white lettering on his car it goes PERFECT with his black and white scheme :D danomatic93 05-21-2009, 08:29 PM you sure your not rubbing that sucker hard when turning and hit a dip? It just starts to rub if I hit a dip on a turn, not enough for it to attack the inner fender though. The last two winters the inner fender would flop against the tire because of plowing snow. Oh well, I chalk it up to weight reduction. lol Here's some progress on the wheels. I think that'll look good. addiction2bass 05-23-2009, 05:58 AM looks good. danomatic93 05-23-2009, 07:32 AM Will you match the spoiler to the trunk lid too? I think that'll look good. Before I got it painted I played with photoshop for a while. I tried trunk and spoiler black, trunk black spoiler white, and black spoiler with white trunk. My favorite was black trunk with white spoiler. plethoric33 05-23-2009, 10:17 AM Interesting combo, I dont think Ive seen a diff color spoiler and trunk. I think it will look much better once the roof matches too. FlipHKD720 05-24-2009, 10:20 AM havent checked this thread in a while, lookin sick, defnitely a unique color combo. reaper2022 05-24-2009, 12:29 PM havent checked this thread in a while, lookin sick, defnitely a unique color combo. ^this. It would be complete. Do those cooling plates really do anything for this car?? I might just make something out of sheet aluminum. now you just need boost lol, car is looking really good btw. I would love to boost but she's at 240k and I'm not getting rid of my AC. Now before you say, 'well you still can..." If I'm going to boost, I'm going to boost, no baby boost. Then again, I'm more apt to run a NA swap. trustdestruction 06-19-2009, 10:48 PM Well they don't do much but they really clean up the radiator support. This guy is selling them for $50-60 (half size and full size) http://www.civic-eg.com/viewtopic.php?t=9179 croninc 06-20-2009, 01:28 AM Do those cooling plates really do anything for this car?? You thinking about a motor swap maybe? danomatic93 06-20-2009, 01:40 AM fosho i feel ya. You thinking about a motor swap maybe? Yes and no. This is my only car (my DD). I'd be interested in doing a K swap but that again means no AC. :( So, I've been toying with the idea of picking up a EG hatch and do that swap to the hatch. Side note: I just bought a set of top hats extensions for the front. croninc 06-20-2009, 02:17 AM yeah she would be out of commission for a lil while if u did the swap. U thought about doing a b swap so you could keep your a/c. But for the the money you would spend the hp wouldnt really b worth it and you could easily pic up a hatch for the price a swap. Anyways gl with it, car is looking great tho. Have you thought about buying a hatch with a/c and then turboing ej1? trustdestruction 06-20-2009, 02:18 AM GSR swap would be pretty cool. croninc 06-20-2009, 02:22 AM GSR swap would be pretty cool. yeah i was thinking that two but it will be expensive and for the hp you get out of it, not really worth it when you could buy a hatch and boost it, iino depends on how much hp he would want to make or if he is trying to stay n/a. Then a gsr or type r motor would be sick. trustdestruction 06-20-2009, 02:25 AM ITR swap then. WellFedHobo 06-20-2009, 04:10 AM I'm loving the progress. That valve cover looks great. Those are OEM civic coupe seats, to the best of my knowledge. I have had a couple of questions asked about them so I'll have to look into it myself. I got them when I was swapping the interior to black, so I suppose they could be from something else. hell, idk. Lewy2k 07-26-2009, 01:41 PM Mine are OEM as well but they look nowhere as good as yours. Could just be the fact that they are nice to begin with and the rest of your interior looks good to compliment them. I cant find any reasonable priced teg seats where i live. I read the DIY you made on it and it looks really clean! pm'd Check my site if you would like: http://danomatic93.tripod.com/ danomatic93 10-11-2009, 08:04 AM I was on the highway to go to Baraboo, WI (2.5 Hour Drive) at 8 am yesterday and my alternator blew. Pulled over of the side of the highway, I popped my hood and saw the 80 amp battery fuse brown too. At this point I figured the alternator had a ground fault which popped the fuse. So, we called for a lift back to the house. We drove to the parts store and picked up an alternator and a 80 amp fuse. Then drove back to the car. I unplugged the big alternator plug but neglected to unplug the ground. Fail. We plugged in the fuse and the magic electronic smoke came out. Damn. I wanted to drive the car back to the house without the alternator so I wouldn't have to tow it. Well, we went back to the house and picked up some rope. We drove back to the car and towed it back home. That tow hook works great!! http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010091024-00.jpg http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010091024-01.jpg We got in the garage and jacked it up and started work. The only bolt that gave up any guff was the alternator pivot bolt. But, it was no match for an air hammer (I <3 Air Tools). We threw on the new alternator but is was too wide to fit on the bracket. We filled it down a little and it fit like a glove. http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010091201-00.jpg http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010091201-01.jpg Original 250k (a quarter million!) mile alternator: http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010091200-00.jpg After buttoning it all back up, and a third 80 amp fuse later, we started it and let it run for a bit, charged the battery. Then we drove up the Baraboo, WI and picked up a Z6... Half way up there, in Dekorra, I got pulled over for "Amplified Exhaust" and "Excessive Tint." Thankfully he let me off with a warning. Then we continued on the drive up the Baraboo, WI and picked up a Z6 and clutch... http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010092106-00.jpg http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/1010092107-00.jpg cvcrcr99 10-11-2009, 08:18 AM Sucks to hear about the alternator, but 250k is a good amount of use! But thats nuts that the original alt was still going after so long. Your tint doesn't look "excessive". What exhaust do you have? trustdestruction 10-11-2009, 10:14 AM amplified exhaust? What do you have? WellFedHobo 10-11-2009, 10:52 AM Glad it was an easy fix. Its amazing how many parts can go for a quarter million miles. That car is still amazing despite the honda cancer. danomatic93 10-11-2009, 03:35 PM I spy Honda cancer! Yep, I have the replacement panels, but as I only have one car I can't have that much down time plus one of my good friends might do it for me. We'll see. Still hatin the roof rack lol. Yeah, I initially planned to take it off whenever I didn't use it. But, I'm lazy and I haven't taken it off since the day I bought it. lol, oh well. Your tint doesn't look "excessive". In the state of Wisconsin the front windows can be 50% and the rear can be 35%. I have 35% front and 15% rear. Big whoop. What exhaust do you have? I have an 'eBay' header (looks like a megan but idk), stock cat, tsudo stainless steel catback and a TWIN LOOP muffler. Sigracer10 10-15-2009, 01:53 PM sweeet... *drool* danomatic93 10-16-2009, 11:14 PM I participated in the annual Road America - March of Dimes Driving event this year... The event was an automotive massacre of (almost) epic proportions. Before the event even started my friend Chuck finished building his Ford Mustang SVO (4 cylinder turbo). After a test drive he spun a rod bearing rendering it unfit for the track. So he took his ‘winter beater’ which is a Ford Mustang 5.0. -At the track a Honda S2000 broke loose and smashed into the barrier totaling it. It wasn’t even his car. It was his friend’s car. -A Toyota Supra came off the track and parked. After his brakes cooled for a bit his front rotor cracked nearly in half. -Randomly, a parked Chevy Corvette started on fire. -At the end of the 3rd of 4 sessions I spun a rod bearing rendering my car unfit to drive above 2k rpms. -Chuck’s Dad smashed into a barrier with his 05 Ford Mustang. -A Porsche Carrera swiped a barrier and another Porsche blew some engine seals and it was spewing smoke. So, to get my car home I had to keep the rpms below 2k (which means I could exceed 45mph) otherwise I could have thrown a rod through the side of the engine block and caused even more damage. Sigracer10 10-17-2009, 06:48 AM that just sucks. i don't know what else to say cvcrcr99 10-17-2009, 07:01 AM ouch! I'm sorry to hear about your car Dano. Oh yea, and sucks to see a s2k & a porsche all smashed up. Hope you get your car back on the road soon. plethoric33 10-17-2009, 07:09 AM Sucks to hear. But that Midori Hatch is sex. I plan on stealing it from whoever it belongs to. WellFedHobo 10-17-2009, 07:44 AM Sucks to hear, and dang I want the projection housings out of that S2K.... Shame to waste them. danomatic93 10-17-2009, 08:15 AM I'm guessing you spun a bearing because of the age of the motor? And not a driver mistake I hope. Yeah, it had been making some noise on cold start ups that wouldn't go away until the engine was warm and I brushed that of as valve chatter or piston slap during cold start up. That noise very well could have been a bearing saying I Love You. And since I didn't say it back she left me. When it died I wasn't excessively revving or anything. So I'm attributing her death mostly due to age. I'll post up a video of the last minutes of my rod bearing... danomatic93 10-17-2009, 09:06 AM Video of right before the bearing spun: http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/th_RodBearingEnd.jpg (http://s772.photobucket.com/albums/yy7/danomatic93/?action=view¤t=RodBearingEnd.flv) When I accelerated there was a pitch grinding noise and then you can start to hear it knocking. plethoric33 10-17-2009, 09:23 AM lol at Blink182. Them combined with rod knock is nothing I would dare want to be around. Too bad she didn't last just a bit longer since you already have the swap and build planned. DaOne 10-17-2009, 10:02 AM That event looks like something off a Final Destination movie lol. Lewy2k 10-17-2009, 10:52 AM Ooooh that doesnt sound good. Good thing you noticed before something even worse happened. As well as not totaling your car like some of the other people there. Right now my stock head and trans are for sale. It's just the block that toast. Well, really just the crank, journals, and a rod. Tiran 10-22-2009, 11:06 AM Dan, where do you keep getting these Z6s? I ask cause I may need one and since they seem to grow on trees in Wisconsin I may have to go out there to get one =P Also I may have missed this but what are you doing for a transmission on your turbo build? Stock z6 tranny or you going to get something with a different gear ratio? Have you looked into LSDs? I know the OBX one is not that good but there is that sweet MFactory one on D-series.org. kanarrjl 10-22-2009, 03:01 PM the tranny youve got is it a 5 speed? danomatic93 10-22-2009, 07:08 PM Dan, where do you keep getting these Z6s? I ask cause I may need one and since they seem to grow on trees in Wisconsin I may have to go out there to get one =P LOL! I'll have 2 spare 92-95 EX transmissions, 3 spare heads, and 1 spare block. And that's after I have a full engine in the car. Granted I'm keeping 1 head and 1 block for the build but I'm going to have to start selling these parts off... I've been driving all over Wisconsin to get the parts though. Oshkosh, Baraboo, and soon Greenfield. Also I may have missed this but what are you doing for a transmission on your turbo build? Stock z6 tranny or you going to get something with a different gear ratio? I'm keeping the power level to the low to mid 200's as I want it to be a easily streetable car. Plus once you start getting up there in the whp it gets harder and harder to keep traction and put the power to the pavement. Plus, you reduce reliability and longevity of the engine too. Note to everyone: Please don't debate me on my plan. I'm sticking to it as far as reliability is concerned. Have you looked into LSDs? I know the OBX one is not that good but there is that sweet MFactory one on D-series.org. I have and I really don't think I'm going to. One reason is that I don't drag race. Straight lines are no fun for me. I haven't really had an instance where I thought to myself, "I need an LSD, I can't live without it!" But maybe with the added power I'll change my mind. With the price of them being up there, I would probably just drop the $$ and pick up a quafe LSD with a lifetime warranty. the tranny youve got is it a 5 speed? Yes, all 3 are 5 speeds. The one in my spun motor is a 96-00 EX 5speed and the other 2 are 92-95 EX 5 speeds. BX_Civic 10-23-2009, 04:10 AM Just wanted to say that i love your car and like the plans that you have for it. around 200ish WHP is going to be a blast to drive while not melting through rubbers lol. I think you have a good idea with the LSD and i think you may end up wanting it in the end. My mx6gt was 200 HP and while i didn't burn the tires out all the time the damn torque steer was pretty crazy at WOT and i really missed not having LSD in that car. Good luck with all the work you are doing and keep posting, this is one of my fav threads on this site, i check it almost every day :) Scott53092 10-23-2009, 05:36 AM Just stoppin by to say great thread. Milwaukee ftw! kanarrjl 10-23-2009, 06:21 AM how much would you want for the 96-00 one or is only one of the 92-95s for sale danomatic93 10-23-2009, 07:02 AM I would be more inclined to sell you one of the 92-95 EX transmission simply because I beat the crap out of the Y8 trans. The others may be other year-wise but mileage-wise they have less and they weren't abused on tracks. I'd let one of these go for $150. If you really want the Y8 trans you're more than welcome to buy that one too. I may make it sound like its bad but she doesn't give me any problems at all, no grinds, no crap. kanarrjl 10-23-2009, 07:09 AM same price for the y8? cuz ive got a y7 im converting to a y8 so it would be nice to have everything the same but if you want it thats fine danomatic93 10-23-2009, 05:37 PM same price for the y8? cuz ive got a y7 im converting to a y8 so it would be nice to have everything the same but if you want it thats fine No worries, I honestly don't care which one I have. I'll keep you posted. kanarrjl 11-09-2009, 06:07 PM k will do, do you hapen to have any y8 heads laying around with an extra v-tec solenoid while im at it? danomatic93 11-12-2009, 09:27 PM k will do, do you hapen to have any y8 heads laying around with an extra v-tec solenoid while im at it? Unfortunately no Y8 heads. Well, it's official, the input shaft bearing on the transmission was going bad. I swap back in the Y8 trans since I know how it feels. I still have a 140k Z6 trans that would work for you. Also, my battery died today. FML!! I had to pop start it as the little lady already left for work. I drove straight to batteries plus and got a new one. I got 5 years out of the old battery. WellFedHobo 11-13-2009, 08:09 PM Dang, that's pretty damn good for a battery. kanarrjl 11-15-2009, 02:42 PM just get a kinetic it will last longer than 5 years for sure. do you think that the z6 trans would thro any cels? danomatic93 11-15-2009, 07:09 PM Nope. The things that go to the trans are VSS (speedo sensor), reverse light sensor, and starter. Which I'm pretty sure there's a VSS and reverse light sensor on there already, which yours will swap over if you and you could keep the others as spares. Lewy2k 11-15-2009, 07:14 PM I want a cheap z6 swap.
