alright so basically I have a 2000 civic ex w/ a d16y8(stock internals) and I want to boost it at like 6 psi and I was just wondering:

1) Howgood are ebay diecast turbo manifolds? I know there stainless ones are crap but anyone know anything about the diecast?

2) is there any ebay turbos that are a little better than the rest, or are they all crap? I mean I only want to boost 6 psi, one of them has to be able to hold up.

3)I have 104,000 miles on my car, so shouldI boost or not waste my money?

4) can you keep your stock cat with boost setups?

5) and last but not least I live in ny and will have to drive this car in winter and I was just wondering if it was a good idea and how well my turbo would hold up in freezing temperatures?

Thanks for any input :D

you say ebay as if ebay is a brand. If you get generic stuff, you're an idiot. If you get name brand parts for your car, ebay is a fine place to buy it from, it'll probably be cheaper that way.

1) Howgood are ebay diecast turbo manifolds? I know there stainless ones are crap but anyone know anything about the diecast? IDK but buy a kit with good parts and turbo. Anything under $1,000 as a kit on ebay is garbage. You can always find parts yourself to bring the cost down, but most good kits are around $2000.

2) is there any ebay turbos that are a little better than the rest, or are they all crap? I mean I only want to boost 6 psi, one of them has to be able to hold up. Namebrand turbo's can be found on ebay, do a search. It depends on what size turbo and how much HP you want to gain.

3)I have 104,000 miles on my car, so shouldI boost or not waste my money? Again, research. I have a d16y8 in my 00 ex and I was debating what to do. I'd rather get built engine(b16) and a fairly new tranny then turbo later without any problems

4) can you keep your stock cat with boost setups? Just buy a high flow cat and catback exhaust

5) and last but not least I live in ny and will have to drive this car in winter and I was just wondering if it was a good idea and how well my turbo would hold up in freezing temperatures? search. I'd recommend a turbo timer and boost controller

Thanks for any input :D

Cast manifolds are not a great design but they do hold up better. (horrible wastegate position)

2) is there any ebay turbos that are a little better than the rest, or are they all crap? I mean I only want to boost 6 psi, one of them has to be able to hold up.
All ebay brand turbos are crap. (you can finded used garretts and dsm turbos that will be alright as long as they have no shaft play)

3)I have 104,000 miles on my car, so shouldI boost or not waste my money?
Do a compression test, leakdown test, make sure you are not burning any oil or coolant. If it passes those tests you are okay to boost.

4) can you keep your stock cat with boost setups?
You are going to want to replace the entire exhaust system when you turbocharge the car (2.5-3in piping for a low boost setup)

5) and last but not least I live in ny and will have to drive this car in winter and I was just wondering if it was a good idea and how well my turbo would hold up in freezing temperatures?
Let it warm up longer before you drive it. Don't just get in and go.

6. The search button doesn't bite.

theroetically, you could buy an ebay turbo kit that comes with a cast manifold.....use the intercooler and piping cause all that **** is the same *almost*, use the blow off valve cause i know alot of people who use them and are fine, idk about tthe wastegate and oil lines, and you get a turbo...that you can use for your room as like a table centerpiece.:D all for like i have seen them for like $450
