i will have the cash to afford both swaps, i was really leaning towards b18c1 cuz of the price though

will the b18c5 be a strait drop? or will it require new wiring and mounts?

i know the b18c1 will be a strait drop into my 92 cx, but b18c5 is 'the holy grail' of the b's... sooooo

any suggestions?

if you dont plan on going to a turbo or an SC, then go with the C5, you can always sell off the parts that you upgrade, like the cams and such. but you wont go wrong with the C1 either.

What he said^^^

Also, the swap should be indetical with either. They have the same mounts.

Id deff get an LSD with it no matter if you choose the c1 or not. (the c5 should already have it)

how high is the compression rate on the c5?

turbo would be nice... but i doubt i could afford one.. after the swap id pretty much be virtually broke..

bleh

hmm..

C5, i think requires new wiring

around 11:1, depending on if its US spec or not. withthe c5 you will need to either convert the car to OBD2 (just a harness) or convert the motor to OBD1 (a lot more work) but still not too hard. you wont be mad about a C1 though. Trust me;)

hehe yeah i know c1 would make me happy.. anything is better then a 70 hp car.

hmm..

compression rate is to high for the c5

i wana go forced induc. c1 sounds best.

try to get US spec, it has 10:1 and J-spec has 10.6, making the US spec much more boost friendly.

would jspec pass smog?

if I had a chance I'd go C5

Put some ITB's on it, crazy ass high rpm cams, dyno tune it, then be happy cause the look on people's face when you are dropping low 13 to high 12 second 1/4 miles with a all motor daily driven honda will be great

So the c1 in US specs would be best to go forced induction? Im in the same debate with myself right now.

yep. and throwing a b16 head on there will be even better. flows better and lowers compression to about 9.7

so a b18c1 and a b16 head will lower the compression good enough to turbo with good reliability????

as long as you dont push your luck with too much boost. but its about as good as it can get without a build with forged internals.

Im in the same exact situation - the funds.... But ive decide on the ls vtec (usdm) but cant find a good engine w/tranny ecu axles n linkage any suggestions?

any suggestions?
yeah, dont do an LS/Vtec. its not very reliable without a built bottom end. look around here, youll find a bunch of posts on why. im too tired to explain it again right now.

ok ok

from the begining of summer to actualyl what has happened. i seem to have spent the majority of my cash on fast food, trips and such

i guess working didnt bring in tooo much cash.

i was thinking of an ls bottom with the C1 head. the cheaper way. saccions oh wise one, any suggestions?

Isnt a ls block with a b16 head ls vtec or its just the head with the vtec not wired up????

sacicons

LS/VTEC is ls block with any dohc vtec head. whether its b16, b18c1 or even a type r b16b or b18c5.
