So i took my slow nonner to the track this past weekend, bottle-less...mostly because my V8 car isnt up and running yet, and i just wanted to go to the track...and to see my dad run the bimmer/me run the bimmer....there were three or four Very fast civics, all hatches, all boosted, and all running in the 12s. there was also one that was very beat up, but upon opening his hood, he had a new RSX type-S drivetrain, which he said was "worked" when asked what was done to it. My car is slow on the strip until the bottle kit is mounted up, at which point it will still be slow, just not as slow, so i expected this guy to smoke me...even with slicks, he did a huge burnout, and we staged, and i pulled a better light than him, but by the time i went for second gear, he already had a few car lengths on me. he was well enough ahead of me for me to see his 12.78 ET pop up. I am pretty sure that this was the fastest NA hatch that ive seen in person, and I was impressed. how much lighter is a mid 90s hatch than an RSX, because ive seen plenty of RSX's struggle with 15s...

RSX-S=2840

mine with integra brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, system, full interior, and B-series with about a 1/4 tank=2365

and a lot of the hatches start out lighter than mine.[&:], so under 2200 isnt impossible, and stripped, maybe even under 2000.

my E34 never lost to a civic, but then again, I never raced any with engine swaps or FI. I would imagine that a newer SI with some bolt ons could take you as well. Remember that your car is over 1000lbs heavier than a stock DX

there were your run of the mill "i put 18s and subs in my civic and now its fast" people, but not many. the hatches that i looked at, which were all very fast, were also all completely stripped out, no carpet or anything, and the one that spanked me had a CF hood, and i dont know what else because i didnt take That close of a look at it. there were so many cars..it was ahrd to find specific cars.

LOL there must be something seriously wrong with my friend's E34 because it takes freakin forever (longer than my car!) to get up to 110 MPH

then i can assure you that your friend has an M20 powered 525i which I assume is automatic. Me and pat have the newer ones that have M50 engines which have like 20 more hp and tq (don't quote me on the figures)

THAT right there is why I'm saving for the K20 S motor. Same 220 HP in a lighter car. Awesome! But is a coupe lighter or heavier than a hatch? Also, what's up with all the bimmer talk? Starting your own underground BMW forum to take over HCF??? [sm=joke.gif]

well, since this topic is related to both civics and bmws, why not?

BTW, hatch is a bit lighter

That's what I thought, But I don't know why? It seems like the hatch would have more body surface to add more weight? Or is it just because it's empty space and it just looks bigger?

it just looks bigger. its a lot shorter in length. well, a few inches anyway.
