You can do a remote start on a manual as long as the safegards are in place!
A former co-worker's son disabled the clutch safety switch on his truck and sent it through their house because he accidentally left it in gear without the parking brake on. Both the homeowner's and auto policies REFUSED to cover the claim due to the safety features being bypassed! He did $20,000 in damage to the house and had a total loss to his fairly new $14,000 truck.

Remote starting a manual is a bad idea. There is a real risk of major liability. You could hook up only the alarm part and not use the remote start.

There is NO ISSUE doing a remote start on a manual trans.... provided the unit being installed is manual safe. If/when done properly, the car WILL NOT start in gear.
The safety measures are fool proof. I have been selling and installing Astroflex for 10 years, and have done MANY manual trans installs. If the product is designed for a 5 speed...it's safe,if it's NOT, then it's NOT safe.

well with any manual remote start it is posible!!!!! BUT one thing that i HIGHLY RECOMEND for anyone else is leaving the STARTER wire unhooked!!!!! you will still have the start and GO feature where you start the car with the key and then activate the STOP and GO feature and walk away. its more work in the winter and summer BUT its the safest way. otherwise hook up the starter wire up to a relay and toggle switch so you can kill the wires power, for when you have work done to it, or loan the car to a friend.
because a manual vehicle is only safe when ONLY YOU touch the car and leave it in neutral all the time! most people leave the car in gear. but i never do myself.
i infact just got my new paging alarm starter system today. ill probably instal it tomorrow morning ;)
no one else will ever drive my vehicles so i have nothing to worry about besides when i take the car in for tires or alignment. thats the only work i do not do myself ;)
