1/4 is 17.5
the Mx3 was a bracket race at an Import shootout I got wasted by an eclipse in the second round due to a miss shift
Trap speed is 80MPH

lol 17.5?

The golf and teggy must have been trying to race in 3rd gear the entire time. [:@] 17.5 is really bad is it not? With all of the "mods" you have listed on your cardomain site, that all seems like a waste of money. My friends stock ranger ran a 17.9

something must have gone wrong. My friend's stock '97 DX did a 1/4 mile in 17.5. How do you launch? If you drop the clutch, you're doing it wrong. Do you shift when you hit the redline? If so, then this is also hurting you. On my BMW, the redline is set at 6.5k RPM, so I shift at 5.25k, which is the point of the peak torue and HP

you dont want to shift AT peak power, you want to shift at the point that your power is dropping off enough that where you will land in the rpm range, you will have more power than if you rev farther. on hondas, thats pretty near redline. im not trying to bash you, but those times can improve a lot without any more money on mods. just go racing as much as you can(at the track, so you can see your times), and practice your launches and shifting and see what works for you.

i usually shift at AT peak power because that's the only point where I can chirp my tires, meaning a bit more power to the wheels. If I shift near redline I don't feel that great of a pull

yeah, ive driven a couple of cars that you can feel how much slower it is to shift at redline. like that POS 5s-fe in the older celicas and non-turbo MR2s.[sm=smiley21.gif] but for hondas, its pretty damn near redline, esp with the ins and outs done.

What is a good lunch RPM for an 99 EX Ive been trying to figure it out and I just started at the tracknot to long ago that and i live in tx so the temps are just auwful here. I know that the times can improve I have to get my shifter bushings replaced andthey are on the way. Then I will post my new times if i race on friday. What should i be running then if you know just by a guess?

i usually get my best times when i do a normal street launch. i just give the throttle a little blip right before i take off and just roll out of the box. otherwise i have too heavy of a foot for drag racing. with the mods you have listed on cardomain, you should be able to at least break into the 16s. maybe even mid to low 16s if the temperatures cool off a little. with my stock 1.5l non-vtec in my 95 dx coupe, i had a short shifter, some crappy cat-back muffler shop hack job from the previous owner, an ex trans, an SRI, and 135000 hard miles, and i managed a 16.6. and i really needed to fix my timing. it was too advanced, so it was killing my top end. so you should be able to at least match that. just keep practicing, sooner or later youll get it.

every car is different. I usually rev it up to about 3.5k and when I launch, i let the clutch out smoothly and quickly, thus slipping it. If it feels like you're destroying the clutch, then you're launching properly
