Audio/Visual & Electronics - Blown, JL Audio subView Full Version : Blown, JL Audio sub AcivicKid 10-15-2008, 06:29 PM hey i have a JL audio sub and it is blown, i was wounder if it will be worth my wile, getting a new cone and fixing it, or should i just go out and buy another sub? Thanks Adam Marty 10-15-2008, 06:59 PM which one is it? gunz4me 10-15-2008, 07:48 PM w6 or w7 series... consider reconing w3 series or lower - replace Then again, I like the w6 and w7 series and think everything else by them, except for maybe the 13TW5, is overhyped, lackluster performing, run of the mill, entry level subwoofers. AcivicKid 10-16-2008, 06:44 AM sorry, its the JL audio w6 gunz4me 10-16-2008, 12:12 PM Contact your local JL Audio retailer and ask them how much it will cost for a recone of a w6 subwoofer. Then decide from there if it is worth it to have it reconed or purchase a new one. Reconing is not a feat you should tackle doing yourself unless your speaker has end user replaceable components like the Kicker Solo-X, Memphis Mojo, Peavey Black Widow, etc... Marty 10-16-2008, 07:45 PM if it's a plain w6 and not a w6v2 it's not worth it. I have to get a 13w6v2 reconed years ago and it cost nearly as much as the sub did new. So I just bought this one to replace it. AcivicKid 10-17-2008, 12:37 PM yeah,i fixed a few subs b4. i just got the cones on ebay. but i just didant know if it was worth fixing or just getting new subs. but i got 4 new cones comming now anyways so i think ill give it a try if now hell with it.. just buy new subs thanks . gunz4me 10-17-2008, 12:54 PM It can be done yourself. The only issue is ensuring that everything is aligned properly.. That is a royal pain! |
