Introduction: I got the Sol in May 2008, and swapped all my goodies on the Civic to the del Sol, converted the Civic to stock, and sold it. Since then i've been working on the car pretty much nonstop. I wish I could find some pics of the car when I got it, but I forgot to take any. The car was pretty dirty (mostly interior) when I bought it, besides a relatively new paint job. The car was 100% stock besides some aftermarket wheels that I put on my old Civic. I don't know why two of the pics have del Sol fat fives on them, I guess the previous owner traded them out for something else... doesn't matter to me.
Here's what it looked like when I bought it (click image to view full size):

So today I finally bought the rest of the parts I need to replace before I can start my turbo project.
Bought timing belt, timing belt tensioner, front brake pads, and a new lower left motor mount. The mount will be here tomorrow, it's on order at advance auto parts. Also, as soon as my check clears the bank i'm ordering some VHT taillight tint spray and the crank pulley removal tool.
Oh and I also bought some fuses because I had the wrong fuses in a couple places, and I just got around finally to fixing that.

I know that the hood's not a different color, but in the post with only 2 car pics the hood looks like a different shade of black.
What numbers do hope to put down after the operation?
And what's your setup going to be?

you are changing the water pump with the timiing belt correct? Its stupid not to IMO especially when doin a boost project.

oh crap i knew i was forgetting something
how much do those cost, hopefully i'll have enough to pick one up tomorrow
i'm not doing the install until i get the tool though
EDIT: just checked and advance has remanufactured ones for like $32, do you think those are fine?

Around 200whp
I'm considering this GReddy kit that comes with mostly everything, minus turbo timer, intercooler, bov, and gauges, and then buying the stuff it lacks separately. Then i'll sell the e-manage that comes with it, because i'm gonna get a basemap from Phearable and get it tuned.
What i'll probably end up doing is finding/buying a used kit that i can find on craigslist. I see good listings all the time in my area... like there's this complete GReddy kit (with BOV, intercooler, turbo timer) for sale about 15 miles from here for like $800.

if youre going for boost....dont skimp out on a water pump. I believe theyre 60-70 new from honda depending on where you live. If you need a listing of stuff you might want and prices..pm me

what's the difference between a remanufactured one and a new one? shouldn't they both work the same?

I'm going to spend around $500 ish for my boost project lol, and I went with honda for my water pump. Advance auto, at least with me, has a history of ****ing up.

if your going boost on a stock motor the basics replaces are:
-timing belt
-water pump
-oil pump
-brakes
-cap / rotor on your distributor (if it hasnt been done so already)
-new plug wires if they are old
thats about it, thats one hell of a pre-boost tune up though :) better safe than sorry.
i got a phearable.net basemap for you, just hit me up when your ready and ill save your $75 bucks... just make sure your running 440cc injectors if you want mine lol

Alright, I'll go OEM Honda then since it's not extremely expensive and is worth the extra $40, you guys both have made some really good points.

-timing belt
-water pump
-oil pump
-brakes
-cap / rotor on your distributor (if it hasnt been done so already)
-new plug wires if they are old
After this timing belt change i'll have all of that done except for the oil pump... well and the cap/rotor... but the previous owner told me those were new, and i've inspected them when I replaced my cap gasket, and they looked fine as I was expecting. Where's the oil pump located and how hard is it to change?

I already have a Phearable chipped ECU, so when I need a new basemap i'm just buying the custom EPROM from them for $30. I appreciate the offer though.

just got my Phearable chipped ECU in the mail (old one got f'd up and was gonna need a chipped one anyway in the future), and also I ordered a can of VHT Niteshades like i've been planning on for the past week. On Monday i'll be ordering the crank pulley holder tool.

Just put some new pistons and rods in and you'll have a brand new motor lol. You're doing a ****-ton of maintenance, though in the end it'll pay off.
What is the mileage on your car?
trustdestruction
10-25-2008, 02:43 PM
So today I put on the new front brake pads, and broke them in, and also replaced the bolts at the bottom of the calipers. One of them was bent and it was causing one caliper to grab before the other, causing uneven braking. Now the problem is taken care of and with new rotors and pads all the way around, and the recently new master cylinder, it brakes great now.
I look forward to seeing your fast-looking car actually become fast.
lol, yea
the reason i focused mainly on how it looks (besides doing I/H/E and suspension) is because I want to get everything out of the way and taken care of so that I can focus all of my budget and time on the turbo project once I start it. I can't wait until the turbo project is done (though it hasn't started yet)! I'll finally be done spending tons of cash on my car, and will finally have my car the way I want it.

lol, if only I had the money. If the engine ever blows (hopefully it won't) i'll just rebuild it with nice parts. If it puts a hole in the block i'll buy a new shortblock and build that.
The main reason for all the maintenance is because when I bought the car, this is all the stuff it needed. lol, though I did buy it for $2000, which was a hell of a deal.
it's got 162k miles, but since I've been replacing all this stuff it feels a lot younger than that.

oil pump is directly behind your harmonic balancer (underdrive pulley)
another thing to do while your doing timing belt / water pump... its going to be a long day for you for sure!
go oem for it, you wont need a ported and shimmed one till over 250whp id say...

and is it pretty simple to get to once the pulley is off?

Oh yea, forgot to mention I got my Phearable ECU today and installed it. I already had a chipped ECU, but it got messed up from my crappy soldering iron. This time I let them do the soldering. lol
Anyway, my car's running better than ever. (Not saying faster, just runs better - not entirely caused by the chipped ECU)

2k thats a steal!
oh and FYI I bought it stock, so the 2k price didn't come with anything aftermarket. Although, all of the suspension and I/H/E were on my old civic and i just swapped it when i bought it. So pretty much everything on my mod list, minus suspension and intake/header/exhaust and the high flow cat, i have bought/installed since may
if the motor goes, yea that's a good idea, but then again a d16z6 can be had for like $500 for the full longblock and transmisson, and it's a direct swap
i might go with an LS engine though if that happens (b18b), i've seen them around here for good deals sometimes, and they're suppose to be good for boost because of the lower compression, correct?
bigolsackapoo
10-25-2008, 03:09 PM
Yeah they have a lower cr than a b18c. Although that doesn't necessarily mean that they are better for boost, you can run more psi and get similar hp. Imo an ls/vtec is the best option.
I see b18b longblocks all the time for cheap, and I'm sure a gsr head isn't that expensive.
trustdestruction

i'm pretty sure there's more to an ls-vtec than just mating the head. just like a cr-vtec is more in depth
anyway, i'm gonna stick with the D series, it's fun being the underdog (and making it up with boost), and they're cheap
bigolsackapoo
10-25-2008, 03:42 PM
Of course there is. You have to supply oil to the head, because the oil holes don't line up, Increase the intake side dowel holes to 14mm, taper the dowel pins so that the head sits evenly, get a vtec distributer(bolt pattern is different than ls), and get a gsr water pump/timing belt. Oh and gsr headstuds. Its not a big deal to do if you are mechanically inclined, and I've helped someone do it before(its not a short thing though). I believe stealthmodeperformance.com makes an oil feed line just for the ls/vtec or a b20/vtec.
trustdestruction
10-25-2008, 09:35 PM
yea, i don't have that kind of money
i'd rather just turbo the D
thanks for the info though, i've always wondered what exactly was involved in the swap
didder
10-26-2008, 01:16 PM
heres a comparison about the ls block.
on honda-tech there was a guy exact same turbo setup on a b16a4 and a b18b
the b16 made like 300whp, 140wtq
the b18b made like 300whp and 180wtq on the same ammount of boost!
just go with a ls block if the motor grenades :) ill see if i can find the link
bigolsackapoo
10-26-2008, 01:25 PM
Lol the way we're talking about this whole motor thing its like the z6 already blew. I wouldn't worry too much about motors, because with everything you've done it sounds like it'll last a while.

trustdestruction
10-26-2008, 02:15 PM
I had to take it off when I replaced my drive belts about a month or two ago, and it just crumbled in my hands when I took it off.
Luckily, this is the lower left one (the one on the A/C bracket, by the crank pulley), and it's not one of the more important ones so I was able to put it off. Also, it was only like $23.

10-28-2008, 07:26 PM
I took out the rear half of my interior today because my subwoofers were causing rattling. I secured some wires better than they were and also a drain tube from the trunk to the wheel well was off its clip and rattling, so I reattached it to its clip. Also, another drain tube that goes from the trunk lid area and drains above the gas tank came out of its hole, so water must have been draining straight into the interior! Fixed that too, and put all the interior pieces back in and secured them better than ever. No more rattling.
I'm waiting on the crank pulley tool and VHT niteshades and I'll take some more pics when I get that stuff done.
Minor setback though, I need to replace my alternator, the bearing went out.

Does filling the insulator like you did increase or smooth out general engine vibration felt at the steering wheel and inside the car?
I also see oil on the original repaired mount. Is your power steering pump leaking?

Took out my main relay and re-soldered the connections on it. Randomly, I had trouble with the car starting sometimes and RonJ recommended I take a look at the main relay. One of the solder joints appeared to have a weak connection. I touched them all up.
Also, for some reason the clamps on both of my radiator hoses, on both ends, had came loose (they're the kind with the screw clamp). I retightened those and I stopped leaking antifreeze. Weird.
Sorry for the blurry pictures.

I added more solder. But when you do it, you have to make sure you melt the original solder at the same time. To do this, hold the soldering iron on the old solder to melt it, and while holding it there, then take your new solder and hold it against the spot you are soldering and the tip of the soldering iron. This way, all the solder will melt into one glob of solder. When pulling the soldering iron away from the solder, do it in a quick upward motion, it makes the solder less likely to get everywhere and makes it cleaner.

A little. But it was so minimal that it could be all in my head. Definitely feels better to know that it's not torn now though.
I'm sure though if it had been a main motor mount I would have noticed a bigger difference.

How about when you run the A/C, given that the insulator sits next to the A/C compressor?

Does the fuel pump fail to prime? If the pump primes, then resoldering the main relay won't do much.

Actually, now that I think about it, yea, when I turn the A/C on there is a lot less vibration than with A/C on prior to replacement of the mount/insulator.

I haven't seen a crank pulley tool like that. Can you include your hand or something in the picture to give a sense about the relative size of the tool? How does the tool work?
trustdestruction
10-31-2008, 12:07 PM
it's about a foot long
you stick the nut in the crank pulley hex socket, and wedge the bar against something (i think they said some part of the suspension), and stick your socket through the nut's hole
bought it off ebay, it's got a lifetime guarantee. I would have bought the tool everyone else uses but i only have 1 breaker bar and i need it for loosening the crank pulley bolt, not for holding the pulley

So the nuts welded to the bars must be very large. I didn't sense that from the picture. The hex slot on my 6th generation crank pulleys is quite large.

the crank pulley bolt is a 19mm
i also have never seen a crank pulley tool like that one
the crank pulley bolt is a 19mm
My 6th generation Civics have a 17-mm crank pulley bolt located in the middle of the large cavity where the Honda Hex tool is inserted.

I am still having a hard time envisioning that the nuts on Trust's tool are large enough (no pun intended).

So today I sound deadened the entire underside of the car and the rest of the wheelwells, sealed the area where the trunk vents meet the body (they were leaking water into my trunk... not good), and repainted my wiper arms flat black. Today I replaced the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, alternator, and then did a coolant system flush.
Sorry I don't have any pictures, I didn't want to stop to take them because I wanted to get the whole thing over with.
Everything went smoothly for the most part, until I went to replace the alternator... The bottom bolt that the alternator pivots on was gone. I think that had caused the alternator to sit funny and the bearing to go bad inside of it. Anyway, I found a bolt that works there, but I will be ordering a new OEM one and will swap it out real quick when I get it.
Then the rest went smoothly again until I put it back together and then was cleaning up, and found a part I had missed. So I had to loosen the drive belts and remove the pulley again. The part I forgot to put back on was the metal shim thing that goes in between the oil pump gear and pulley. It's on now though and everything is fine. Started it up, and the engine purrs like a kitten. I am now very relieved not having to worry about my timing belt snapping, now that I know when it has been replaced, and that I won't have to do it again for a long time. 105k miles is a long time, and I am glad for that.
I'm gonna tint my taillights in a couple days, and then I will start saving money for the turbo project.

With the foot on the brake they shine bright enough to easily see, but that's only because I have a pair of $30 really bright LED taillight bulbs from superbrightleds.com
The Si badge probably isn't going to happen, I ordered it a long time ago and it never came and paypal rejected my claim. I am no longer interested in an Si badge. However, I am getting some metallic black Honda emblems soon. (the H's)

Today I installed some new front brake pads again because they had worn funny because of a bent caliper bolt and I have now replaced that bolt so now the new ones should wear good. I got wagner ceramic pads

Alright, update:
I ran all of the wires for my OEM power lock conversion and have the driver's side lock mechanism, the control box, and the switch. I got it working, and in the mail I have the passenger side mechanism coming. While installing the driver's side mechanism, I broke a weak spot on the interior door handle, and broke the mount on the exterior handle.
I have 2 used exterior handles (because I found both of them in black for cheap) coming in the mail, and also I have 2 new OEM interior handles coming in the mail, because the ones in my car are grey and don't match the door panels, and I was buying black for the one so I might as well get both. Also, the tabs that hold them sturdy against the door were broken on them so they were always a little flimsy. That will be fixed once I get the new ones. After that I will have fully functional OEM power locks and new interior and exterior handles.
I also got my black/chrome Honda S2000 Emblems in the mail the other day and they are both installed now. Right now, my car is at the dealership getting my free new seatbelts installed (if yours don't retract when you get out of the car well, Honda will clean them first, and if that doesn't work they will replace them). I just got my OEM Del Sol mudguards in the mail and when I get my car back later today I will install them. If it is before dark when that happens, I will get pictures today of all of the stuff I just mentioned. If not, i'll get pictures tomorrow.
Finally, FINALLY, I can start buying more turbo stuff next week (spent all this weeks pay on the new handles and lock mechanism).

Yea, I know what you mean. The engine's in really good condition though and I'm gonna be shooting for right at like 200whp. Also, I plan on doing everything the right way such as using ARP headstuds and the engine is pretty much ready for turbo, I just need the actual stuff on my list. I've done a lot of maintenance (list on 2nd half of 2nd post of this thread) and I think it can take it and still be pretty reliable. I don't plan on doing a crazy setup that would make my car unreliable, and eventually i'm gonna do an engine build (way in the future), and that will make the car way more reliable and gain power at the same time.
About the weight, you'd be surprised. The Del Sol weighs like 2400lbs dry. The reason it's so heavy is because of the extra reinforcement on the B pillars. Though it still does weigh way lighter than those other cars you mentioned, and yes I look forward to blowing the doors off cars that are quote "better" than mine... like my friend's '94 Mustang GT.
what is your setup?
My mod list is on my second post of this thread. I'm currently saving for a turbo project, and my parts list is on the first post.

yeaaaaaaaaaaaa, i know.
lol, so here's the story behind that.
I had a Civic, an automatic base model 4-door Civic, and then I bought this. I swapped every mod on the Civic over to the Del Sol, and then I got to the exhaust and to my expectations, it was too long. I took it an exhaust shop and they cut the exhaust piping shorter and this is the best they could get it. And with the WS2 being nearly $500 there was no way I wasn't keeping it.
I plan on getting a rear lip and that should shorten the amount it sticks out to about 1-1.5 inches and it'll look a lot better.
It doesn't help that the Del Sol rear bumper seems really high up, leaving the exhaust sticking out really far.

Update:
I'm currently waiting on a used passenger side door lock mechanism/actuator, 2 new interior door handles ('96/'97, which means they're black instead of grey - my door panels have already been swapped to '96/'97 so these will match) from majestic Honda, and 2 used exterior door handles (my driver's side one broke, and the passenger one has broke and I rigged it to work... and i'm paying like $40 total for both, shipped, from different people). I'm getting new SOHC VTEC decals for the side (like $10 on ebay), this time in flat black, and an OEM replica rear panel "del Sol" decal in flat black also. I don't really want my car debadged, obviously, and I think the flat black decals will actually look pretty cool and add to my stealth look.
On Monday i'm opening a savings account for the turbo project and will be depositing its first funds. I plan on buying the turbo/manifold/downpipe as a combo, most likely before I buy anything else so that I can seize any opportunity immediately and since obviously a lot of the turbo parts will not be determined until I know for sure that I get a 15B. Hopefully I will get a 15B and it looks like I will since I see the greddy ones on craigslist locally a lot for good deals.
Also, I got some Meguiars interior detailer and leather cleaner/conditioner.
I also plan on getting my tint redone sometime soon... the guy is charging my only $140 to remove my old tint and replace it with 10%. I'm gonna ask him about getting a small (maybe 2") strip across the top of the windshield (my visors suck).
I guess after the turbo project is all done, which will be a while, i'll look into getting some new rims again... i'm dyin' to have some nice black 16's to complete my stealth appearance. Also, far in the future I plan on getting a Mugen Replica rear lip.

I'm tall, and the roof is low. The windshield is at more of an angle than your civic also and is not as tall. The main reason for me wanting the strip to block out some glare from the sun during sunset, because the visors on the del Sol are lame and i'm not paying mad cash for JDM visors.
Also, when I bought the car, it had a 4" strip and I peeled it all off because it made it too hard to see because it went so low. I would have just trimmed it, but the tint was in horrible condition so I just took it off.

Lots of stuff installed today:
-new hood hinge
-new interior door handles
-new exterior passenger door handle
-OEM passenger door lock power actuator
-inline fuse installed on door lock wiring (tapped at the fuse box the lazy way by sticking a male quick connect in the fuse slot, and then putting an inline fuse in my wire)
-distributor cap
-alternator lower mounting bolt and nut
-SOHC VTEC decals (replaced the old silver ones with some black ones to add to my stealthness
Ordered a few things (some small cheap side projects):
-new OEM Leather Steering Wheel Cover
-new OEM gas cap
-new OEM gas cap holder for while filling up
-used AEM p/s pump underdrive pulley (got it cheap, couldn't resist the easy install and price)
-brighter fog light bulbs
-black "del Sol" decal for rear license plate panel

a few months hopefully
i'm starting to buy parts now so things are picking up in pace
however, my tires are getting low and sometime I may end up having to take a 2-3 week pause from buying/saving for turbo parts, in order to purchase some new rims and tires. (I will be buying rims and tires because I want new rims and there's no sense in spending $400 for new tires for rims I don't even want)

i ran over a ****ing nail
gotta go get the tire patched tomorrow
i detailed the car, and while i was waiting for it to dry so i could wax it, i cleaned the interior out good and then it wasn't dry still so i also checked my tire pressure... front left tire was at 19psi. ****!

Got the tire patched for free at Tires Plus.
Paying for boost controller, injectors, and fuel pump today, and i'm also ordering a Blox dual bend short shifter. My shifter I have now is generic ebay and I hate it so I decided to order the blox one, which I've heard from fellow HCF'ers is the same as the skunk2 one, but costs $40 less.
Oh yea, also I found out my dad is getting me the AEM UEGO wideband o2 sensor and a/f gauge I wanted for christmas. I may get some other stuff I want for my car for christmas too, possibly including the ARP head studs or some nice new Momo pedals (car came with missing pedal pads... bought cheap pedals and put them on but they look retarded and the clutch pedal slides around on the stock pedal no matter how hard I tighten the clamps.)
Also, these next two weeks I won't be able to buy stuff for the car. Gotta buy some last minute Christmas gifts with next weeks paycheck, and then i'm going to Canada on Christmas so I won't be able to work while i'm gone.

Got my injectors in the mail. They're RC 440cc and they've only been used for two dyno runs, because the guy who had them then found out they were too small for his application. Snagged 'em for $150 shipped.
Also got an AEM power steering underdrive pulley, because I was browsing H-T and found it for really cheap so I bought it.

Installed the P/S pulley.
Here's a few tips that I didn't know when I went to install this:
1. D-series (probably B-series too, maybe all Hondas) power steering pump pulley bolt is reverse threaded. If you don't know what that means, it means righty-tighty lefty-loosey does not apply and do the opposite of what you would normally do.
2. Jam an old 1.5"-2.5" long bolt into one of the holes on the P/S pulley and rotate clockwise until the bolt is on the bottom side of the assembly and it hits the metal on the housing... this keeps the pulley from moving.
3. P/S underdrive pulley requires a different belt. On a D16, the Dayco part number for the required belt is 5040333

Been doing some thinking... probably going to boost to 12psi instead of 10psi... my compression is great, engine is fully maintained, and I have read/heard a lot about stock D16Z6's running fine up to nearly 250whp. I'm gonna go a little more conservative route than that, but i'm going to shoot for around 225whp @ 12psi rather than the original goal of 200whp @ 10psi.
Now, just to get some cash saved up.
Trust me, if I had cash right now, this turbo setup would be bought/installed/tuned by the end of this year.\
Anyway, this week's money will be spent on Christmas gifts for others so no buying stuff this week for me... next Tuesday i'll probably order a ton of stuff and spend all my money on turbo parts, because i'm gonna be going to Canada on Christmas Eve with my gf's family and won't need any of that money for things such as gas or anything (gf's mom is paying for trip). I suppose i'll be ordering turbo timer, plug n play harness, map sensor, and maybe also the oil line kit.
Oh yea, and i'm also getting remote start/keyless entry for Christmas from my dad so i'll be hooking that up. I want to publicly thank Kev for helping me out with the wiring diagram and explaining some things to me; now i'll be 100% prepared going into the install and it should be very painless. Looks like i'm gonna have to learn to stop parking in gear... i've started the transition into breaking the habit already though. IDK why I do it, it just feels safer to park in gear.

12-14-2008, 05:48 PM
Why did you need to cover that hole?
I don't have wheelwell covers.
In the rain, water was splashing up through the hole and onto my air filter very easily and if it was raining bad enough it would get really wet and bog the engine down. Now the filter stays a lot drier in the rain.
I actually did that a while ago but never took pictures and I figured I would take some, incase anyone has the same problem and wants an easy fix.

ay trust how do them ma audio subs sound i was wondering bout them
they sound pretty clear and have great bass for 10" subs. With a properly matched amp they sound amazing. Just make sure if you get them, you match the amp accordingly, and don't go by the peak wattage, only RMS.
many haters will tell you MA Audio sucks... but that's the people who seem to think anything that's not top-of-the-line is crap.

they're not really expensive (bought mine for 2200, KBB $2400), just hard to find them that haven't been riced out to death or all messed up, or rusted out. Sometimes you see nice ones but most of the ones I see are riced out.
I met a guy at walmart who parked right next to my del sol. He had a del sol that he had restored to stock and put s2000 seats in and man did that car look great. it looked like it had just rolled off the showroom floor from 1993, besides the s2000 seats.
about the badges, i think a honda emblem as big as the new honda's emblems are would look out of place on the del sol.
i have s2000 special edition honda emblems on it right now, and if you want a close up go check out my picture album, which has a link to it in one of the first posts on this thread. it was like $40 total for both brand new OEM honda, but it was worth it. On the front one i just had to drill the holes in the bumper bigger, and in the back i removed the tabs from the badge and carefully just used the emblem's adhesive backing (the back one's whole emblem's backside has adhesive) to stick it on straight. luckily, i got it pretty much dead on straight and it worked out great. the adhesive on them is really strong and i would have to try pretty hard to pull the badge off the back of the trunk.

it was soo easy on my car, it really sucks for you guys. lol
i just took the roof off, laid it upside down on the bed, removed the two roof lock handles, and popped off the 3 trim panels. then i sprayed the adhesive on and put the new material over the existing headliner. tucked in the excess material around the edges of the headliner, and then popped the trim panels back on. the trim panels extend over the headliner, so it looks seamless. took like 15 minutes.

selling, hopefully
not sure how much they're worth though
front tires like 50% tread, rear like 25-30%
2 rims are bent on inside lip but the tire shop bent them back to where they seal air and they also don't make the tires unbalanced. you can't even tell.
no curb rash, just a couple tiny paint chips on the front of 2 rims from when the rim fell over in my driveway while it was off the car and landed face down on the pavement.
i think i got road hazard coverage though from wheelsnext.com when i bought them so after i get the new rims i'll have to check that out

are you going to start a project thread?
i plan on selling them. two of them are just a tiny bit bent on the inside lip from a pothole, but i'm pretty sure i got the road hazard special when i bought them, so after i take them off i'm going to call up the company i bought them from and see what's up.
they got bent kinda bad but some guys at a shop i go to were luckily and surprisingly able to bend both rims back nearly all the way, to the point where there was a good seal on the tire, and they don't wobble at all.

The only problem I have is black on black, I personally do not like it, but its your car and you want that stealth look so more power to you man, get that thing boosted!
Looks can be deceiving.
It's actually matte charcoal, a really dark gray. In person they look much better and add a small bit of contrast to the car while still maintaining the stealth look.
They're a really weird color... in the daytime in the sun, they look dark gray. In the daytime in the shade, they look nearly black. During sunset, they look like they have a bronze tint to the gray. At night they look like they have an olive green tint to the gray.
And yea, boost will be coming. I'm probably going to buy GReddy_civic's mani/turbo/downpipe when he takes them off for when be builds his motor and upgrades his turbo. I just don't know when that will be for sure. In the meantime, I'll buy the rest of the stuff I can go ahead and buy.

they're only about 1000-2000 miles old. i think i got some grease on them or something and the conditioner is helping. it's making like a "shhhhhhhhh" noise now. i think that may just be the conditioner on the belts.
it's kind of hard to explain the difference between what they sounded like before and sounded like now.

I think it's actually a dye or something, or at least acts like a dye. The can says "permanent", so i put it to the test. I tried scraping it with my fingernail, which would normally chip average paint... nothing happened.
I think it also says it's fade resistant.

Got a goody in the mail today.
Mugen pedals FTMFW! They fit on the pedals great, they feel great, and they're solid. Well worth the price, especially since it's something you use so much.

On another note... yesterday I went to get an alignment. Found out I have bad lower ball joints and my cv boots are torn so i'm gonna need new axles too (smarter to replace the whole thing). I already know I need an input shaft bearing, because mine is starting to go.
I have decided that I will suck it up and just get it all over with. I'm saving up the money for new axles, lower ball joints, exedy stage 1 clutch kit, input shaft bearing, and a fidanza lightweight flywheel.
EDIT: oh, and an alignment.

$75
a guy on ebay is selling them for $100 or make an offer... I offered $75 and the next day eBay sent me an e-mail saying he accepted the offer.
i worried it was gonna be fake... but they're legit. came with the official mugen instructions/packaging and everything.
