hey im buying a b18b engine with no tranny.and i currently have a d16y7 engine in my civic.
what tranny should i get to go with the b18? And another question, on my d16 i replaced my starter because my car was not starting. But that wasn't the problem. I reached in and touched the flywheel and it shakes back and forth. Do i just take my tranny off and tighten the flywheel? Or do i have to replace it?

best gas mileage is going to be the LS trans. this is also a good trans for boost applications, because the gears are so long. the b16 trans will get the worst gas mileage and the gsr trans will be in the middle. b16 has shortest gear ratio and gets the worst mileage.

so my civic tranny wouldnt fit with the ls right?
sorry if its a stupid question

Yeah, barring a few exceptions, you can't use a transmission from one series engine on another series engine (the exceptions being things like H2B swaps).

For the most part, a b16 trans will be your best accelerating trans.
The LS trans (b18b) is geared fairly long, with a double-overdrive and relatively low final gear
The GSR (b18c) is geared somewhere between the other two with a higher final drive than the LS.

I say LS or a GSR if you plan on boosting, and a GSR or B16 trans if you plan on staying N/A

Or if you want to get in-depth, I still stand by my idea of a GSR trans. with an LS final drive :D

so a ls tranny would be fairly cheap/easy to find and safe for boosting...or is it the same with a gsr tranny.
